2023 is a year for change, creating solid foundations, and for spiritual journeying. It’s a year for personal growth, and for clarifying who you are, what you want, and why you are here.
October is a month for making friends with uncertainty, for exploring your creativity, taking risks, and putting yourself out there. It’s a fabulous month for love and socialising too.
51. STARS IN THE SKY – LIMITLESS POSSIBILITY
Neil Gaiman’s quote is so apt for this week. While you’re alive you have so much potential, so many possibilities. As soon as you die that all comes to an end – at least for this lifetime.
Sorry, not trying to be morbid, especially when this week’s energies are so optimistic. BUT I do want to remind you AGAIN that life is short, and precious and you never know if – in putting off something til tomorrow – you’ll miss your chance. Our life is here and gone in the blink of an eye. The things that seem so vitally important to us will be rendered into nothingness and dust by the processes of time. So, in the face of that, have courage.
Is there something you want to do, try, experience, become?
Who cares if your idea is crazy? Who cares what others might think of you? What does it matter if you will fail? Truth is, it doesn’t matter. One day no-one will remember anyway…
Also, let me be clear. I am not from that new-age hipster school of YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING AND MANIFEST EVERYTHING AND HAVE IT ALL, ALL AT ONCE, ALL THE TIME.
Sorry. I am shooting that idea down in flames.
In choosing something you close the door to something else. If you really want something it may involve effort, sacrifice and a whole lot of action.
But that’s okay. In fact, that’s kinda the point.
This week, why not be bold, choose something and get started!
PS – I know I just said it doesn’t matter, but the truth is it matters to you. If it didn’t matter you wouldn’t be all tied up in knots over it. And the whole point of you living YOUR life is to take hold of the things that matter and shape them into a meaningful existence for yourself, one where you can look back and think ‘I did that’. Doing what matters to you makes for a satisfying life. So you need this thing; not for anyone else, not to impress, not to win prizes or have your name in lights – you need this thing to define you, to fulfill you, to forge you into the person you came here to become, and to better realise your own potential.
My Top Tip For The Week Ahead:
You know, this thing you want is always in the back of your mind, and often in your daily thoughts. It comes to you in quiet moments, and pops into your consciousness when you least expect it. Busily you turn away, stuff it down, talk yourself out of it, step around it and come up with another validation for why you’re not doing it, can’t do it, and so on…
All this energy you’re using to run away would be better spent in doing the thing.
All you need to do is start. No grand gestures, no wild positioning statements, no colossal expectations.
Stop running. Take a breath. Find a place to make a modest beginning, and just start. You don’t even need to look this thing square in the eye. That will come, in time. For now, know that turning to face your dream and engaging with some small part of it is all you ever have to do.
Consider this blog post a sign from the Universe. Today I am passing in the message. Begin!

I know, you’re probably wondering how my solo writing retreat went.
It was fabulous.
It was hard.
It was lonely.
It was inspiring.
It was an incredible gift to myself, to be able to immerse myself in story and write and write and write without having to worry about anyone or anything else.
And, in the end, I got to type two very satisfying words.
These ones…
I’m home at the treehouse now, and recovering after what was actually one of the most intense periods of my life. Some days I forgot to eat, I paced in my hotel room muttering and sticking post-it notes on the wall and drinking endless cups of tea and writing from 4am til midnight. So many of the plans I had BEFORE I went (oh, it will be great – in between writing I will catch up for coffee with friends, I will go shopping I will… blah, blah, blah) never eventuated. All I really did was write and sleep, with brief intermissions for snacking and fresh-air walks. I am thinner, perhaps unsurprisingly, and it still feels disorienting to be back in the real world.
The 2024 Journeymaker Planners for my personal shop stock have arrived at the wharf while I have been away so I am hoping they will be delivered this week. And then the end-of-year madness will begin.
But that’s okay. My draft is done, and I am so relaxed about everything else.
