How to nurture your Spiritual Connection

“Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”  ~ Joseph Cambell

Have you seen the bumper sticker that says ‘We are all Spiritual Beings having a Human Experience’? If you’re reading this, chances are that you are awakening to your own Spiritual Self. I remember when I first began to be aware of my own Spirituality. It was an exciting and difficult time in my life. It was also confusing, because I had little direction and did not know where to begin.

We are spiritual BEings, and when we begin to understand this and to discover and honour this connection to Soul and to Source, miracles begin to happen. There are many ways to nurture our Soul and to develop our Spiritual and Psychic gifts.

We don’t become Spiritual, because we already are. Acknowledging our spiritual aspect is actually just a step towards balance and wholeness in our lives. But how do we do this?

If you want to get fit and healthy, you change your lifestyle and start to exercise. As your body becomes accustomed to these changes it responds by being able to do more, by replacing fat with muscle and by energising you. There’s not much difference with developing spiritual “fitness”. It involves lifestyle choices and committing to exercises that help you to find and strengthen your spiritual and psychic self. Here are some to get you started:

  1. Wake up happy.  If you are not happy keep working on feeling good.  Don’t get out of bed until you are in a better head-space!!!  Stretch in bed, feel good, and surround yourself with white light, drawing it deep into your body. Then seal your aura with a layer of colour, like putting a shell around an egg. Choose the colour you are most drawn to, and know that this will have a benefit for you.
  2. Meditate – meditation is the act of mindful awareness, and it can take many forms.  Here is a simple meditation to try:
  3. Time in nature – Stand with your bare feet on the ground, and feel the energy of the Earth anchoring and grounding your body. Feel the sun, sky or moon and stars above you, radiating cosmic energy that enters from the top of your head.  Sit leaning against a tree and feel its wise energy nurture you. Watch birds or animals and seek wisdom and messages from them.
  4. Journal – Daily writing helps to create a space for self-knowledge, healing and contemplation. More tips on that here.
  5. Daily card or rune – Choose some runes or a deck of spiritual or inspirational oracle or tarot cards. Each day close your eyes, offer up a prayer for guidance and then choose one card and let its wisdom enrich your understanding by giving you new perspectives.
  6. Eat to lift your vibration – The fresher the food, the higher its vibration.  Favour organic, seasonal, minimally processed and cruelty-free.  Drink lots of water too!
  7. Get plenty of rest – When we are rested we are calmer and more able to hear our inner wisdom.
  8. Say no to drugs, and limit consumption of alcohol, caffeine, sugar and any form of chemical additive.Things that alter your consciousness or hype you up also disconnect you from clarity, reality, soul wisdom and Spirit.
  9.  Be discerning about your choice of sexual partners. Sexual intimacy opens up the energy fields of the parties involved, and there is great transference of energy between you. People who lead a lifestyle of lack of regard for their physical and emotional well-being, who take drugs, consume lots of alcohol, and indulge in promiscuity, negative and violent thinking will have unbalanced energy, or worse. When you have sex you open yourself up to all of this. Is this what you want to knowingly expose yourself, your home and loved ones to?
  10. Call on God, your Ancestors, Angels and Guides. None of us is ever alone. There is love and wisdom all around us, and all we ever have to do is ask, and then stay open to that guidance.
  11. Trust your intuition – it’s like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets!
  12. Live in the moment – Here is where your power is. Not in the past. Not in the future. Be present in the here and now.
  13. Be brave – love deeply.
  14. Ask for teachers to come into your life – this might be in the form of books, friends, workshops, mentors.  Go with what you are drawn to and discard the rest.
  15. Love and accept yourself as you are NOW!

Sending you much love for your journey. Know that you’re in my thoughts, prayers and meditations, Nicole  xx

Saturday 26 May – Full Day Workshop 10am to 4.30pm

Foundation Spiritual Practices – This one day workshop will help you wake up your natural psychic and intuitive abilities by developing a strong practice of regular habits to incorporate into your daily life. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been working with your spiritual gifts for years you’ll find tools and techniques here to help accelerate your growth. More importantly, these practices will help you to reclaim your mindfulness, sense of self, inner calm, good decision-making, peace within, and a strong connection to guiding energies.

These are the techniques I used to build my own intuitive and psychic abilities. They are tried and tested with over 35 years of my own personal practice. If you’re busy, stressed, anxious, time-poor and longing for a way back to that safe and tranquil space of connection and communion, or if you’ve gotten out of the habit of regular spiritual practice this is the workshop for you!

We will be learning:

  • What a spiritual Journeymaker is and why it’s time for you to make that journey!
  • How to use tarot and oracle cards to find your own answers and to go deeply into a space that gives you purpose, direction and perspective. (Even if you have NEVER done this before I will have you working confidently within a short space of time!)
  • How to use crystals for deep soul work.
  • How to use journalling as part of your regular spiritual practice – done properly, journalling can open doors in your life you’d never thought possible! I’ll show you how to frame your questions, how to spiritually connect and how to go deeper to create a sacred journey of self-enlightenment.
  • How to easily connect with your Guides and Higher Self in meditation, and how to access these energies for direction and guidance.
  • How to give yourself and others energetic healing to revitalise the body, clear blockages and promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
  • Creating a sacred space in your home, and the fundamentals of crystal gridding, space clearing and energy work.
  • Some sacred and powerful breathing and energies techniques taught to me by my Aboriginal Aunties that I have never shared before.
  • Some simple quick spiritual rituals to start and end your day connected, balanced and in a good place.

2014 – Guidance for the Year Ahead

“Was it you or I who stumbled first? It does not matter. The one of us who finds the strength to get up first, must help the other.”
~ Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Happy New Year and welcome to the energies of 2014!  It’s a glorious new year, birthed with the energy of a New Moon in Capricorn, which is also a SuperMoon. The Moon brings her own energies to the dawn of this year, and colours the entire year ahead.

I have one tarot deck that I use only for the first day of the new year.  For over 20 years I have worked with this deck as a touchstone to set the themes of my year ahead so that I might live with greater awareness and understanding.  I don’t use the cards as a predictive tool – rather I use it for reflection, and to seek guidance about qualities, actions and perspectives that might benefit me over the next twelve months.

Just after midnight I asked for one card for you – to give YOU guidance over the year ahead.  This is my personal interpretation of that card for you.  I have combined the qualities of this card with the energies of tonight’s SuperMoon.

Take what resonates as truth for you, and discard the rest.

STRENGTH/LUST – Insights for 2014

In 2013 our focus was on change and understanding our personal power. A time to tidy up the old energies from 2012, and to begin planning and dreaming a new and better world for ourselves and the planet. For many it has been quite the rollercoaster.

2014 will fall differently for each of us, depending on our stage of the journey. I urge you to think carefully about where you wish to position yourself this year – you are not without choice, but in order to make that choice you must come from a place of awareness.

Take a moment now, breathe deeply and sit in your heart. Then ask yourself which one of the following three paths most resonates for you. You can also use this information to help understand where others are at in this next year. Know that wherever we are is where we need to be – there is no right or wrong.

The Three Major Life Paths in 2014:

1. Re-Cycling. We have not learned what we needed – travelling through life asleep, unaware or ignorant. Or perhaps we just weren’t ready to make that change. This year we can learn very fast – choosing to face the lessons head on, or cycle back to the very beginning of our pattern or our story and start the whole learning cycle over with the new cycle then lasting many years. It can be a pattern-breaking year, and a major turning point or a bend in an endless loop. The choice is yours.

2. Reprieve. For many of you who have worked hard, focused on self-awareness and self-growth and who’ve done the homework, 2014 is about rest, consolidation and recovery. You get a chance this year to slow down and catch your breath. You’ll draw to you the right helpers and healers, life’s flow will be gentle and supportive and at year’s end you’ll still be able to look back and realise how far you have travelled in 2014. It’s a year for easing rather than fighting, and for allowing yourself that precious recuperation time.

3. Rocketing On Ahead. For some of you, life will pull out all the stops this year. Because of the set-up and foundation work you’ve already done toiling away in previous years, this year will propel you forward in many aspects of your life where you have felt previously stuck, unrecognised or thwarted. You may also feel overwhelmed at times this year as the pace will not always be of your choosing, and you’ll need to simply hang on and go for the ride. At year’s end you’ll be far, far from where you now stand. It’s a big year, with lots of work ahead, and you’ll need to embark on a regular regime of self-care and support to ensure that the year’s growth is sustainable.

2014 is a consolidation year – a year to anchor our dreams, to chart progress and to make lasting change that is supported by our core values and innermost desires. It is a year where we can be rational and logical, while still being supported by a heightened perceptiveness and intuition.

What matters most in 2014 is that we stay grounded in our own strengths, and honest with ourselves about what we really want. It will no longer be enough to live to please others, or to make our life a quest for external acknowledgement and approval. 2014 requires us to be authentic and to live from our hearts, in a way that reflects our passion and interests.

In 2014 we can draw on and cultivate tremendous self-discipline and inner strength. It is a year to make the changes we’ve been dreaming about – the ones we know we will benefit from – even if doing them may initially be harder than staying where we’ve been, safe in our comfort zone. Whatever we can do to support ourselves in being whole and integrated will enable us to make profound progress this year. We must honour our own needs. We must do all we can to come from a place of balance and wholesomeness. The following quote sums up this energy nicely:

“Lust comes from the root lustre. We cannot be in our lustre and radiance if we are not also in our strength. People who exhibit strength also exhibit an inherent lustre or radiance. Strength and lustre are two qualities that are often inseparable.” ~ Angeles Arrien

2014 is a year for overcoming our fears and doubts, and for investing in ourselves – our dreams, our talents, our gifts. It is a year for putting ourselves first, although not in a greedy or selfish way. It is a year where we are advised to become clear, and to live with focus and passion.

It is a year for championing our abilities and our needs, and owning our own strengths and individuality. It is a year for polishing ourselves and our skills, all the better for us to shine our light in the world.

2014 requires us to have a creative vision, and to honour the life force within us. We are being called to make changes, to heal and grow, to become bigger somehow.

It’s a time for us to drop the masks, end the games and be brave enough to stand open and honest. It’s a time for us to be strong, even in our vulnerabilities. There is great beauty in that vulnerability. Great humanity. Great strength.

This is a year, that if lived well and mindfully, shall deeply define us for the rest of our days.

This is a year, that if lived without mindfulness, shall deeply define us for the rest of our days.

We have a choice. Do not be afraid of your own power. Be brave, and make this a year of blossoming and becoming. Imagine how different the rest of your life could look, if you chose to make 2014 a year of heart-centered and values-oriented living.

I’m wishing you an aware and positive 2014, that makes you glad to be alive.

Bless ♥ Nicole xx

Simple pleasures

“To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter… to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring – these are some of the rewards of the simple life.”  ~ John Burroughs

Are you suffering from Broken Robot Syndrome?  If so, I have some ideas to help you heal, and to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.

Life doesn’t have to be complicated to be satisfying.  In fact, most of the things that I enjoy cost little or nothing. Down here at my farm I don’t need to look far to indulge in some of life’s simple pleasures. A glass of fresh orange juice from fruit grown in our orchard, or a simple salad with ingredients straight from the garden.

Juicing oranges

A long hot bath after I’m tired and muddy from a ramble through the paddocks.

Fresh flowers – from a friend’s garden or my own – in jars, old vases and teapots around the house.  These ones are actually weeds and vegetables gone to seed…

Lying in bed on Sunday morning, leafing through one of my seed catalogues, dreaming about what I will plant for the next season’s harvest.

The feel of soft green grass beneath my feet as I sit on a lawn chair under a leafy tree, throwing the ball for the dogs to chase.

Sitting on the veranda having cups of tea with friends.

Time with a needlepoint project. (Have you signed up for my 2013 Creative Challenge yet?)

Listening to a favourite CD as I do the washing up.

2013-02-10 06.25.24

A really good coffee and time for writing. Okay, I admit that empty plate did have a fantastic Chausson aux Pommes on it from one of my favourite French Patisseries at one stage…

The main ingredients for simple pleasures are these: Slowing down, Awareness and Appreciation.  You might be surrounded by things that could give you pleasure but you won’t notice them if you’re always working, worrying, constantly updating your status on facebook, tweeting, texting, surfing the web, or ear glued to the phone.

Today and in the week ahead I invite you to take a deep breathe, slow down, unplug and pay attention to the world around you. What nurtures you?  What feeds your soul? What can you do to bring these simple pleasures back into your life.

Feel free to leave your ideas for simple pleasures below, where it can inspire and nurture others here in our community too.  Wishing you some simple pleasures today, Nicole xx
