“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”

1. Little details of loveliness that show people care. Fresh flowers on a cafe table…
2. Singing along to my favourite songs in the car!

3. Being lost in a book…

4. Seeing shapes in clouds!

and this… (sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

5. Cooking my Nana’s pikelets. I always feel her magic in the kitchen, and that makes me smile. It also makes the food taste good.

PS: Pikelets are also coveted by dogs. Dogs make me happy too!

Wherever you are, I’m wishing you some sparkles of happiness and joy today.
What little things make you happy?
Much love to you, and a big hug too, ♥ 🙂 Nicole xx
Joyful license plates!
My cat greeting me at the door when I come home.
Learning new art skills.
The glittering display window at Saks Fifth Avenue.
My aunts who always have hugs for me!

Hello Nicole,
Thanks for your great blog 🙂 I love your photos, they are so powerful, I use them as screen background at work 😉 and they inspire me througout the day. xxx Cécile
Hello Nicole,
It’s funny you should mention pikelets because today I was looking at a 1950’s recipe of my mum’s. She had made some alterations to it, but I thought maybe I should make some for Thanksgiving tomorrow.
Thank you for your post that reminds us of the simple pleasures to be had in life.
What makes me happy is when my moggie Charlie sits at my feet when I am cooking, the whistles from my cockateil Max when I open the door after a long day in the office. Freshly mowed grass, the smell of rain, staring out to the ocean, sunshine and nice breezes. I think I could go on forever. Life is great. I hope everyone is having a great day 🙂 xxxx
My darling (not so) mini Schnauzer Winston – giving him a morning ‘massage’, watching him ‘bounce’ along with a frizbee in his mouth, feeling him push into me when we’re on the couch, watching him chase the ‘Girls’ – Edna, Doris & Valmai (chooks) when they come onto the verandah (watching them run is pretty funny too!). The love of a good dog – endless happiness….
Seeing my children. They are adults now with their own lives and when I get to see them it brings joy to my heart.
The beautiful smiles of my children, sticky toffee cake, autumn smell in the woods, looking out over the sea and being aware it’s connected to the oceans downunder, yoga class….. Its good to look at happy thoughts!! They make me smile and feel grateful. Thanks Nicole! X
I often think about that ocean connection too. We must be reincarnated mermaids, Em! 🙂 xx
That is a good thought to wake up to!! X
Nice 🙂 My last dog could smell pikelets cooking a mile away and would sit at my feet while I made them….they were absolutely his favourite food 🙂
I love that! Mind you my dogs will sit at my feet when I cook ANYTHING… 🙂
Lol, I love the pathetic, starved look they get….it’s so very genuinely felt 🙂
LOL – yep 🙂
