I just needed to drop you a line to tell you how excited I am about the Academy Of Learning that you are creating for our tribe! I know that there are many people out there that read your blog like I have and are just timid about signing up to join the YOM community. Maybe they are like I was, and think it is just a daily planner. OH, but we both know it is more than that. Lets see….I started following your blog back in 2012. Your free guided meditations and blog helped me get through cancer treatment and the death of my mom. I loved your Kimberley stories, and occasionally you would put some journal activities for us to partake in. Then you created your YOM planner, and community….and I was like….I don’t do planners. If I had KNOWN that it was much more than a planner, I would have joined then. However, I was slow to the take….but I did join  GeSHiDoMo in 2017, which came with a online group. By being in that group of such welcoming ,wonderful people, I was convinced to join the YOM community for 2018. Talk about a life changing year for me! Wow! By February 2019 I was on a plane to Australia going to your Advanced Channeling Retreat! I had never been overseas in my life! The Tribe and you (Ben and the dogs, too) so embraced me and let me feel so welcome! I think about that so much. People I had never met in person offering to let me stay with them, pick me up from the airport….DRIVE ME FROM BRISBANE TO BYRON BAY….I tear up now thinking about it. The retreat was all I could hope for and more, and I now have life long friends that I so cherish. Most importantly, I had been looking for my teacher for a very long time on my spiritual quest. What has the YOM community given me?

It has given me the gift of myself. It has reconnected me to long forgotten pieces and parts of my soul that have lain dormant, forgotten and neglected. It has taught me to honour me, care for me, tune in to me and to be gentler with myself. It has connected me to a tribe of women who are just like me. They are sensitive, searching and have experienced life in all it’s bloody glory. They have huge hearts, wise words, and comforting hugs. In fact, some of my closest friends now in my own little circle are women I have met because of Nicole and YOM.

Belonging to YOM means I know that there is a place that I can reach out at any time of the day or night and someone will be there to listen, laugh with or support me.

I am on a spiritual journey, hungry for knowledge. Belonging to YOM means I always have access to information, classes, courses, a pool of talented, experienced souls and a wise teacher leading the tribe.

My planner is a jouney into me at the start of every year. It is solitude, reflection, heart space and starting the year off right. Using oracle cards and meditation, I create a clear vision for the year ahead. Journal Prompts To Help You Get Unstuck

Good Morning, Lovelies!

If you read my post yesterday you’ll know that this week supports us in efforts to get unstuck in our lives. I’m sure most of you already know I have a love affair with journal writing. In fact, I can’t even begin to wonder how many millions of words I’ve clocked up longhand over the years. Using writing time to help me move past a place of stuckness is a useful process that I’ve resorted to often in my journalling life. The technique was created by me deciding to define a problem in order to better manage it or determine a realistic scale on which to freak out….

In all my years of journalling around stuckness, I’ve never ended up at the freaking out stage – instead, I’ve always found a way to keep calm, to carry on, and to dig myself out of the hole. I guess that’s why I keep using this technique. Read on to find out more.

Activity:

Take out your journal and get comfortable.

You may be able to do this whole process in thirty minutes or less. Or it may take much longer.

If you’re stuck, it doesn’t matter. When you’re stuck there is no momentum.

When you begin to journal your stuckness it’s amazing how you begin to wiggle free from feeling trapped.

Defining the nature of your stuckness, and what it might mean for you

  • What is the nature of the stuckness? Is it an action you need to take, a problem you need to solve or a decision that needs to be made? (Sometimes a stuckness may involve two or even all three of these elements – if that’s the case, write about each of these aspects, in the order you think they would need to be taken.) Write as much as you need to to really define this situation. If you don’t have all the answers create a list of things you need to research or investigate.
  • Okay – here’s the scary bit. You need to ask yourself ‘What is the worst thing that can happen here?” Seriously. Go into as much detail as you can.  Write until you’ve exhausted all of the possibilities.  Really go to town and dump all your fears and worries onto the page. Once we’ve named them, we can much better deal with them. And it stops our minds racing off creating worst-case scenarios later on when we’d be better employed working towards solutions!

How do you feel about that?

  • Journals are places to download our feelings. Who can thing clearly with a head full of guff? Write down all those swirling emotions inside you that come up in relation to this place of stuckness. It clears the air.  It calms things down.  It calms YOU down. It can be a great relief to finally acknowledge how you truly feel about the thing you’re stuck with/on/in. Sometimes, we begin to find solutions right here in our feelings.  Maybe we’re scared to succeed. Maybe we’re frightened of responsibility.  Maybe we feel we have to do the thing to please someone else. Maybe we said yes when we wanted to say no. Whatever it is, journalling our feelings is the beginning of unravelling this mess!

Okay – the hard part’s done.  Once we’ve identified the issue and how we feel about it, we have begun to move from stuckness to clarity. Use any or all of these questions and prompts to keep moving you forward:

  • From what you’ve written have you already reached a decision, conclusion or clarity that can get you out of stuckness? If so, write down your findings, and then chart a plan of action. Plans are great. They give us something solid to work from. If you like creating lists, then go for it!

If you’re still not sure what to do next, explore these options on the page. Use the prompts to help you develop lists and strategies:

  • Is there an expert, resource, course or friend who could help us by giving us the guidance, support and techniques/skills we need to get unstuck? (For example, if you’re writing a book and having problems with the plot you could do a workshop, read a how-to book, or join a writing group.)
  • Can we hand the whole thing over to someone else to do or finish? ( Say you’ve been procrastinating over seven years of unfinished taxes – can you give everything to a book-keeper, or phone an accountant and ask their advice about what to do next? Can you pay your Mum or your best friend who loves paperwork, or the person from the advertisement in the paper?)
  • Can we start at a different corner of the mess?  Often we keep approaching an issue in the same way, and from the same angle. Obviously when we don’t get anywhere we end up stuck. Is there another way you could approach this? Brainstorm as many alternatives as you can, writing them all down. When you’ve generated your list then you can choose a new approach and get started. (For example, you need to get your house ready for sale, and it’s overwhelming you. Instead of starting on a big job, tidy out your kitchen drawers, go through the linen cupboard, build momentum on the easy things or the small things.  Soon you’ll be powering through the problem areas. If you’re writing a book set in medieval England and you love the idea but it’s just not working can you make it sci-fi, or fantasy fiction?)
  • Instead of choosing Option A or Option B can we choose Option F, Q or Z? How many times has it come down to what we think is an extremely limited choice? We paint ourselves into a corner thinking we need to choose between A and B when actually we could have chosen both, none, or something else. Brainstorm some crazy alternatives to your current stuckness. Somewhere in that list will be the seeds of what will grow into your solution. (For example, you are living in a share house and you don’t like one of the new housemates. You obsess about how to get them to leave. You agonise about how you will cope if they stay. Well, could YOU move out? Could you go house-sitting, get a job or go back to study that supplies accommodation, use this as the push to move interstate or overseas, move in with friends or your folks for a while so you can save money to get a place of your own? Could you sell up and go back-packing around Europe for a year, or buy a campervan and hit the road?)
  • And the craziest part of all of this – could you choose to give up on the stuckness, bin the whole thing and move onto something else? Could you finally let this idea/ situation/issue die a good death so that you can start over on something new? (Maybe it’s time to put that half-finished manuscript in a bottom drawer and write something new. Or end the relationship and enjoying being single for a while. Go back to study and change your career direction rather than stay stuck in a dead-end job.)

When we write out our problems, our brain is encouraged to find a solution.  We let the Universe know that we are done with being stuck and that our intention is to get moving again. And more than once, when I’ve begun this process, a solution has come out of nowhere. That’s the Law of Attraction in action!  Think positive. Trust in good outcomes!

Monday Oracle – 11 March 2019

Hello, Lovelies!

March is a month of creativity and inspiration that will propel us forward in new directions and where we can make major progress towards existing goals. Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts of inspiration which the card Ingenuity brings us.

This week Ingenuity encourages us to look at our current stuckness, because this is a week that supports getting UNSTUCK. So, where are you stuck? List it all down. Seriously. Take a sheet of paper or your favourite journal and write down all the areas where you are stuck or not making progress.

Is the house a mess? Can’t get a project finished? Given up on New Year’s resolutions already? Can’t move past the weight-loss plateau? Want to go back to work but want to be a stay-at-home mum too? Got a credit card debt you can’t seem to get on top of? Just can’t submit that finished manuscript? Still haven’t asked for that raise or applied for that promotion? Whatever it is, list it all down somewhere convenient that you can refer back to later.

Ingenuity reminds us that we are the Captain of our own ship and that one of humanity’s greatest strengths is to problem-solve.

Of course, we’re usually much better when the problem is someone else’s!

Now you have your list of areas where you are stuck, choose one.

Ingenuity also reminds us that we can’t keep using the same old thinking and patterns or action (or inaction) to create a different result. ‘Duh!’, I hear you say. But aren’t you currently stuck on something? Let Ingenuity help you find some solutions this week.

Imagine that the problem belongs to someone else. Imagine that they are waiting to read your possible solutions. They’ll be here in an hour (or ten minutes, or twenty, the timeframe is up to you as long as it doesn’t exceed 60 minutes – research shows we become ineffective after that much brainpower time has elapsed without a break) to collect your answers, so you can’t spend too much time on this.

Let yourself move from an emotionally connected space to a place of greater objectivity. How would you advise someone else to approach this problem? What solutions or actions might work for this situation? Brainstorm as many as you can.

Need extra help? Phone a friend. Google for solutions. Be innovative. Write down all the possible solutions or next steps you can identity within your time frame and then pick the best three, and number them 1 to 3.

Choose a solution or action step and get started.

As simple as that?

Ingenuity is a human characteristic inbuilt in all of us, and it diminishes in direct relation to how long we procrastinate about something. Actively looking for solutions and commiting to a plan of action gives us momentum that pulls us out of stuck. That’s the message the Ingenuity card brings us this week.

When I lived in the remote Kimberley district, during my year of psychic awakening, my Aboriginal Aunties taught me the importance of ritual, respect and self-empowerment.

How to Find The Silver Lining To The Storm Clouds In Your Life

This week’s energies support leaning in to our emotions. Writing is a powerful tool for self-discovery, healing and expansion.  In fact, it’s one of my favourite things to do. Today I’m sharing some journal starters for exploring things I have considered to be negative in my life, in order that I might mine that situation or relationship to find the positives and gifts within it.  I’ve found this activity to be a great comfort over the years, and it has enabled me at times to radically shift my perspective to one which is much more positive.

Let’s be clear about this before we start. I am not saying that every terrible situation in your life, and every awful thing that has happened is a gift, or is a blessing. That kind of reductionist New Age thinking is the kind of thing I call b*llshit on regularly. No, I am saying that one of the best coping strategies for these kinds of situations is to find something positive in the struggle and suffering we have endured. Ways that we have grown, or changed or evolved. The kindness of strangers. Some other unexpected small gift.

The one thing that is non-negotiable in this exercise is that you MUST look for a positive – that silver lining on the thundercloud in your life.

One of the things that still stands out for me is the day I heard that a dear friend of Ben’s and mine had been badly injured in a parachuting accident (from which he later died). It marked the beginning of a series of terrible and unforeseen events in our life.  But it also gave me an insight that left me better able to cope with what lay ahead.

What happened on that day remains one of my most precious memories.  Ben and I were in shock, but I had organised for my grandmothers to come for lunch, and I needed to pick one of them up from across town. Life still went on, and the lunch had been planned and looked forward to for months. It was the middle of an Australian summer,  a heatwave no less, and the weekend before Christmas.  I pulled into the madness of a suburban shopping centre to buy cream before I collected Nana.

As I stepped out of the car I was almost bowled over by two things, the heat and my grief. The world slowed right down.  I remember thinking that John must be dying. I stood beside my car as if I was suspended in time. Around me shoppers rushed on in the Christmas chaos, ignorant of the fact that this dear man was taking his last breaths. How could the world keep turning, I wondered.  Why didn’t it look any different?

I felt suddenly connected to an unseen group of people around Brisbane, around the world, who were similarly out of the flow of time, locked into grief or despair or helplessness or loss.  I became acutely aware of the heat, the smell of the melting tar beneath my feet and the gum-leaves on the nearby trees.  Green parrots squawked and fought above my head, and tiny clusters of blossom fell at my feet, like some strange sort of summer snow.  I was struck by the intense beauty of the moment, and of how everyone around me was oblivious to it.  I heard my own heart beating in my chest, was aware of every breath, and felt as if I was seeing the world with new eyes. I became overwhelmed with a sense of how precious and fragile and miraculous our existence is, and my despair was replaced with an avalanche of gratitude.

The intensity and gratitude of that moment has never left me.  It became the silver lining to an awful time on my life.

Free Guided Meditation for the January 2019 Supermoon Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse

The Supermoon Blood Moon Full-Moon Total Lunar Eclipse is almost upon us. It will happen on January 20/21, and it brings with it great energies of shift and transformation.

This eclipse is the ‘Night of the Luminous Soul’.

It gifts us the capacity to become calm warriors in our families and communities. A calm warrior is brave and strong and does not need aggression or violence in order to fight for their cause. A calm warrior acts with inner strength, wisdom, courage and intelligence. A calm warrior lives with peace in their heart. They act from love.

The eclipse heralds energies of courage, clarity, determination, resilience, patience and empathy. We realise that we are not our struggle. We can sit in compassion for our current selves, rise above our pain and confusion and begin to align ourselves with solutions and actions that will change the face and future of our world, starting right now. It is a time for revelations and breakthroughs, for divine inspiration and conscious creativity. It is a time for clarity and renewal.

Guided Meditation

To help you work with the energies of this Lunar Eclipse I’ve recorded a free Guided Meditation for you. You can sit or lie down to do this meditation. Please choose a crystal or stone to hold in your cupped hands as you listen. You’ll need to set aside twenty minutes for the meditation, and some time afterwards for integration and journalling. It’s also fine to fall asleep while listening to the meditation. To enhance the meditation you may also like to diffuse or anoint yourself with some Jasmine, Neroli or Ylang Ylang essential oil.

You can work with this meditation any time between 18 January and 5 February 2019, when the New moon closes off the energies of the current eclipse.

Here are some simple activities you can do in the next few days to enhance your intuitive connection and psychic ability and to clarify your life direction:

Reflections from the Guided Meditation

Take some time to write down any insights or clarity you received during your meditation. It’s fine to do this meditation more than once, and to add to this journalling exercise over time.

Who Am I?

This activity opens you to your own soul wisdom as well as Universal wisdom. It can help to show you who you are now, and who you have the potential of becoming. Don’t judge anything that comes to you. Write it all down!

Directions: Sit comfortably with your hands in the Anjali Mudra (prayer position) so that your hands are in front of your heart and your eyes are gazing straight ahead. You can close your eyes if you want. (Note: If you also want to work with a crystal for this meditation hold the stone in your cupped hands first, energise it with light, the place it on your lap or on the ground in front of you or under your chair – then sit in the prayer position) Breathe deeply, relax your body and then ask Who Am I? Wait for any words, images or impressions to appear. Then open your eyes and begin to answer this question in your journal. You might want to do this a few times in the next few days, as each time you do this you will be able to go deeper and into more detail.

Using Cards for Clarification:

Choose an oracle or tarot deck that is meaningful to you. Shuffle the cards and then choose three, placing them face down in front of you. Once again sit in Anjali Mudra (prayer position), calm your mind and ask Who am I? When you are ready open your eyes and begin to work with the cards.

Turn over the first card – This shows you who you have been, in the past for this current life, or perhaps even from previous lives. Write down what comes to you in your journal.

Turn over the second card – This shows you who you are right now, including strengths and limitations. Write down what comes to you in your journal.

Turn over the third card – This shows you who you can become, or what you can rise above for this current life. Write down what comes to you in your journal.

Reflection Exercise for Life Clarity: Leave the journal for a while. An hour perhaps, or longer. Whatever feels right to you. Then come back and read what you have written. Look for the words that resonate, and for anything that provides inspiration or direction.

Now write again, this time listing your intentions for this lifetime. Who do you want to be? What do you want to contribute, create, have or experience? How will you do this? Trust that whatever is in your heart is possible!

Take your crystal, and complete this short guided meditation:

Hold your stone in your cupped hands, close your eyes, and slow your breathing. Bring white light into your body until you feel peaceful and calm. Then bring white light into the crystal too. Allow yourself to connect to the stone. You may feel it tingle, or you may experience colour, images or guiding thoughts. When you are ready, open your eyes.

Keep your stone near you, and hold it when you write. If any insights have already emerged take a moment to write them down!


Card of the Day – What’s the first and most important step I need to take to change my life?

This is an important question, although the answer may be simple. Honour this by taking a moment to centre yourself, to calm yourself, to become fully present. Then tune in to your heart.

When you have shuffled the cards and they feel ‘done’, select just one card. Place the card face up in front of you. Clear your mind by closing your eyes and taking one deep breath in and then out.
