Sometimes exhaustion is not a result of too much time spent on something,
but of knowing that in its place, no time is spent on something else.

Hey, Lovelies.
Yeah, I know. You’re likely being inundated now with posts proclaiming that it’s time to make this YOUR BEST YEAR EVER, and where you’re encouraged to DO ALL THE THINGS, choose goals for each major area of your life (you know – money, career, finances, relationships, social media profile, spirituality, health, abundance, home, family, community, self development, love life, personal image, fitness, body fat percentage etc), set your resolutions, choose your accountability buddies, make public statements of your goals or awesomeness, take action in all the major areas of your life because this is a new year and you get to start over and do better, and also DO ALL THE STUDY and buy all the courses and complete all the courses and listen to all the gurus and influencers. Then post a few photos to prove your commitment. Blah, blah, blah.
I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
How about you?
Maybe you want a slower start to 2024. A chance to catch your breath.
And honestly, maybe you feel like 2023 wiped the floor with you a little. Or a lot.
So, it’s okay to acknowledge that you can feel a positive shift in the energies, that you are in fact committed to positive change this year (a little or a lot), but at the same time right now you’d like to sink back onto the couch, read your book, sip your tea and chill a little longer.
2024 is indeed a year of shift and change and possibility, but it comes winging its way in with its fresh vibe and sunshiny disposition after we’ve had year upon year of challenges. Most of us are battle-weary. Some of us look fine on the outside but on the inside we’re shredded with exhaustion and barely holding it together. Some of us are walking wounded. Some of us can’t get up off the floor.
So, I’m reaching out to you and telling you it’s okay to start slow.
It’s okay not to start at all, but to rest and recharge instead. Even if it takes all year.
Nothing much ever came from hustling in our exhaustion except deeper levels of burnout.
2024 is a year where your health must come first, even though it’s also a year brimful with possibility for creativity, relationships, projects, adventure, fun and social connection. I urge you to be honest with yourself now, check in with yourself about your energy levels, health and headspace, and make decisions for your year ahead based on the truth only your body knows.
It’s amazing how rest and self-care can fill those empty tanks of yours, and suddenly, with no effort at all, you can begin to reconnect to the magic and sparkle inside you that will light your way forward again.
There’s one other thing that can leave us sucked dry too.
Putting everything and everyone before yourself and the projects and dreams that truly matter to you…
That will hollow you out and leave you resentful and bound up in misery that may well be wrongly diagnosed as the result of your external circumstances rather than your personal priorities.
If you want some tools to help with self-care, intuition, and managing your life so that you can make space for yourself and your dreams this year I encourage you to take a look at my Journeymaker’s Planner. I designed it to support my own life long before it became a published book. I live with chronic illness and debilitating fatigue, so my Planner has an emphasis on your intuitive journey, self-care, and manageable steps that won’t overwhelm or exhaust you. It’s a gentle and loving way to navigate the year, and it’s on sale right now (and my Etsy store has lots of other lovely supportive spiritual things at bargain prices).

I am certainly heeding my own advice and having a slower year; with more time for myself, my personal projects and my key relationships. My trusty planner is by my side, and soon I will be packing my planner, cards, crystal and journal to take on vacation with me – the perfect companion for a slow start to 2024.
No matter whether you are starting the year full of beans and ready to go, or flat out on the floor, know that this can be a meaningful year that supports positive evolution, healing and connection – however that needs to work for you.
With love, encouragement, mugs of tea, and a comfy beanbag in a quiet corner, Nicole xx
