Lovely New Traditions

The human soul can always use a new tradition. Sometimes we require them.
― Pat Conroy

Hey, Lovelies.

A friend and I have started this thing, when we go to each other’s houses for a meal.

It’s happened frequently enough now that I can confidently call it the beginning of a new tradition.

That tradition is…

🥂🥂 The Welcome Drink 🍹🍸.

The Welcome Drink is a cocktail. Something that suits the mood and the season. Something a little celebratory, a little special, alcoholic often, although not always. Served in a fancy glass. Garnished. Ooh La La! If there are kids present, then of course there is a special mocktail drink for them too.

It’s a drink that honours the guests and the friendship.

We usually only have one, and then we move on to other things (usually non-alcoholic for me!).

This weekend it’s my turn to host, and I am looking forward to creating something refreshing with which to celebrate Ben’s birthday. If it turns out well I’ll share the recipe – or if you have a great recipe of your own I’d love to hear it!

Cheers, friendship, love and laughter, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. A lovely one in summer is equal parts clear apple juice and cold mint tea – serve with fancy ice blocks that have mint and flower petals frozen into them. xx
