Our card to welcome in the New Year and guide us for the week ahead is 11. TIME CAPSULE.
2024 is a year for fresh starts, for creativity, healing and social connection. It’s a year for ambitious projects and for getting stuff done.
March is a great month for finding ways to fall in love with yourself and your life, for making progress towards projects and dreams, and for all kinds of renovations and restorations.
11. TIME CAPSULE
So often, as we grow up, we discard pieces of ourselves that were actually precious, wonderful, worthwhile and fulfilling. Maybe you used to love having long hair but cut it short to be ‘practical’ (or maybe a parent or guardian made that choice for you). Maybe you used to love line dancing. But who does that anymore? Perhaps as a kid you played the piano or the violin, or maybe you always wanted to learn the cello – but as an adult who has time for music? Especially if you’re not very good at it. Did you enjoy craft, or writing, or baking?
Did you have a passion for Smurfs or Snoopy or Pikachu or a certain band?
Were you told you were too sensitive, too noisy, that you laughed too loud, or cried too easily? Did you have a fantastical imagination, or a need to perform and entertain people or to create, but that only drew criticism – or, even worse, where your talents were acknowledged but you were encouraged to ‘get a real job’ instead.
Maybe you used to love having friends over for a cheap pasta meal, box wine and a card game on a Friday night, back when you were young and had little money?
Did you always want to travel, to speak Italian, or to sort out your feelings from that thing that happened way back when?
This week encourages you to embrace a forgotten or discarded interest or aspect of yourself and take practical steps to bring it back into your life. This life is your one precious life to do all the things that make you happy – and you will never have this time or these circumstances again. It’s a week for action – and for finally doing the things that help define or express your sense of self. It’s a great time to choose and start a new project too!
My Top Tip For The Week Ahead:
Did you have a dream you put aside because you, or someone you know, talked you out of it? Dust it off. You were given that dream for a reason.
Keep your eyes firmly focused on what you want to achieve. There’s no need to rush. No need to get yourself all worked up. Instead, move steadily toward your goals. Take baby steps if you need to, but don’t give up.
It’s a great week for making longer-term plans, and for reviewing old ones to see if they are still relevant or if you need to update them or change them.

Here at the Treehouse I’ve had a busy week, although I am doing my best to hang onto that lovely sense of calm and relaxation I rediscovered during our recent holiday.
Still, I’m down a team member who quit unexpectedly in the middle of my vacation (that’s a whole other story) and who left things in a bit of a mess, and of course my work laptop literally blew up as soon as I got home, so I’ve been scrambling to get back on top of things.
I’m also working through some big feelings and dawning realizations right now. You know, those really big life-defining thoughts, decisions and emerging clarity that you know will end up leading to change, or change in how you see yourself or put yourself into the world. If February was a month for shaking things up it certainly did that for me!
I’m grateful that over in our Inner Circle we are working through The Artist’s Way for our Book Club book this year. (Yep, we are going to take ALL YEAR to leisurely wander through the goodness that is Julia Cameron’s seminal work.) So I’m also journalling, reflecting, taking myself on Artist Dates and giving myself regular writing time.
Don’t worry if you have found yourself off to a slow start in 2024, or if you’re still in catch-up mode. March brings energies for making steady progress with new goals, and for feeling better about yourself.
