When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.
– Rainer Maria Rilke
Hey, Lovelies.
I had a very busy day yesterday, and a similarly busy day the one before that. Long hours. Lots of clients. Lots of holding space for people’s pains, problems and possibilities. Stress. Some bad news. The need to juggle several things at once, and with not much space to catch my breath. I care about my community, I’m empathic and psychic, so when someone is in pain or experiencing trauma it affects me too
But I knew what to do, to make it manageable.
Three things.
- Water. Plenty of it. Staying hydrated always helps me manage better, sleep better, feel better.
- Immersion in water. The day before it was a lunch-hour swim in the pool. Yesterday it was a dawn swim in the ocean, the water up to my neck as I floated in the brine and let all my worries ebb away. (A bathtub works well for this too.)
- At the end of each day a warm shower in a dark bathroom, with just a candle to light the space. I let the water flow over me and carry all the tension of the day away, cleansing my aura, grounding me and relaxing me, readying me for sleep.
Of course I also had meditation, breathwork, good snacks, and pre-prepared dinners. But it was water that got me through!
Try it. You may find that water works its magic for you too.
Much love, silvery flying fish, and the sound of gentle rain on the roof, Nicole xx
I really should drink more water
