The Comfort Of A Meditation Blanket

True friendship is like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s day.
~ Charles Schulz

Hey, Lovelies.

I wanted to share with you one of my favourite meditation tools.

It’s a blanket.

Actually, it’s a blanket AND a prayer shawl. A shawl is lighter, and perfect for warm weather. (I have a cotton sarong too, for when it’s outrageously hot!)

A blanket is heavier, and perfect for when the mornings and evenings are cold.

I often wrap myself up when I sit down to meditate.

When you sit still for a long time your body temperature drops, so wrapping up helps you stay cosy and comfortable.

But it’s more than that. A blanket helps me feel nurtured, safe, and loved.

Using a wrap imbues it with energy. After a while the act of draping it around your shoulders can bring you to a place of calm – even without the meditation.

It’s one of the best self-care tools I know, and I highly encourage you to try it.
You can also use one to cover yourself during yoga poses or relaxation, for breathwork, and for folding up to use for props and comfort for both yoga and meditation.

I have used it to sit on when I journal or pull cards.

I sometimes use mine to cover myself when I nap too, for the supreme comfort it affords me.

Love, deep peace and the silence of the early morning, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.
