What Does It Mean When You Keep Pulling The Same Oracle Or Tarot Card?

Image from www.tarothub.com

“Repetition rings a bell!”
~  Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

I received an email last week, and then another and then another. They all said the same thing although they were written by different people, so I’ll quote just one of them below, which can stand for all the other ones just like it:

Dear Nicole, I think all my Oracle and Tarot decks must be broken. I keep pulling the same card almost every week. This has been happening for me since mid last year. When I go to another deck I pull a card that has almost the same images or the same message. How do I fix this or do I need to throw them away and buy some new cards? Can you suggest any? Love from S

Has this ever happened to you?

It sure has happened to me.

Here’s the card that forced me to choose a whole new deck back in the day, after it just kept coming up on almost a daily basis (it’s from the Self Care deck by Cheryl Richardson):

Funny thing is, my new Doreen Virtue deck was broken too. Because look what card kept coming up for me:

Apart from the stupidly obvious same-same graphic (Hay House, is this the ultimate recycling of images?) the message, energy and feel of the card was exactly the same as my previous deck.

Sigh.

My decks weren’t broken. I didn’t need new ones. I just needed to pay better attention.

When we find ourselves drawing the same card over and over be assured that it is repeating because we have not yet truly understood and integrated the message. Furthermore, we may have understood the message but ignored it.

The fastest way to get a different card is to pay attention to the one that keeps showing itself to you. Act on that.

Back when this card kept showing itself the Universe and my Higher Self knew that what I most needed was rest. But I sure wasn’t paying attention to that message until that second deck’s card (the very first one I ever chose) hit me like a brick to the face. That very day I closed down my corporate business and began to focus on my healing journey in earnest. So much magic and goodness came about from finally paying attention to the message I was being presented.

If the same card keeps coming up for you I also suggest pulling four more cards to do a reading for yourself about why this card keeps appearing:

  1. Choose the first card in response to the question What is this card showing me right now?
  2. Choose the second card in response to the question What obstacles are blocking my path about this situation?
  3. Choose the third card in response to the question What opportunities are presented by this situation?
  4. Choose the fourth card in response to the question What is my best way forward?

Here’s how I used that process myself:

I hope you found that helpful!
Lots of love, Nicole  xx

Temple of Light Meditation Retreat – Just a few places left!

“The mind can go in a thousand directions, but on this beautiful path, I walk in peace. With each step, the wind blows. With each step, a flower blooms.”
~  Thich Nhat Hanh

My next residential retreat –  Temple of Light ™ Shamanic Meditation Retreat, to be held at Sangsurya, Byron Bay, Australia, from the 23rd to the 28th of September, 2017 has just a few places left. Is one of them meant for you?

There is a very special meditation that I practice on a very regular basis. It’s not just a meditation, it’s a destination – and it’s one of the things that has most helped me to come into my own intuitive and psychic abilities, and that has enabled me to deal with health problems, pain and suffering when there was no other help available. I have named this technique Temple of Light ™.

This particular shamanic meditation technique arose from a gift I was given long ago – a fragment of a sacred meditation – and the result is one I have channelled, developed and tuned over decades. It supports you no matter what your religion or spiritual beliefs. This simple meditation technique allows you to access an energetic destination which is multi-layered and that last you an entire lifetime in terms of the insights, wisdoms and developments that it will help you to manifest for yourself and others. That is what the Temple of Light ™is all about. No matter what your current level of knowledge, spiritual connection or metaphysical ability, this technique will work for you.

2017 marks the first year of a brand new energetic era. In this new energy of communication, connection, clarity and collaboration I have updated this meditation significantly. I have also introduced some shamanic rituals that I have not felt to share for a very long time.

Over this six day immersive experience I will guide you through a series of meditation and self-reflection exercises designed to open you up to your wise and intuitive self, your Guides and energetic helpers, and the talents and gifts within you.

The Temple of Light ™’s energetically connected ‘rooms’ will provide you with a beautiful and sacred shamanic meditation template that will allow you to manifest immediate change in your life, and to rapidly accelerate both your personal and spiritual development. Whatever your interests, the Temple of Light ™ will provide you with what you need, customized to your own energy and purpose. It is a place of comfort and sanctuary, attuned to your exact personal needs.

If you are interested in developing psychic or metaphysical skills, creating healing energy, or gaining access to creative or financial flow, or if you’re stuck and don’t know how to move forward, this is the retreat for you. It is suitable for complete beginners and advanced practitioners too.

A shamanic journey is a journey within. This sacred journey allows us to access a level of consciousness where we can more easily tune into intuitive and spiritual guidance. We learn to listen to our bodies. We learn to listen to our hearts. We learn to listen to our souls and our own inner wisdom. We learn to listen to the Earth, and to all that surrounds us.

On such a journey we often discover things deeply buried – all manner of gifts and longings and talents neglected. We are able to practice Soul Retrieval as we connect to the aspects of ourselves that have long been lost, shamed or shunned. When we embark on a shamanic journey we gift ourselves space to become whole again, in flow again, and we experience growth and peace.

Let me tell you more…

Will one of the last places be for you?

To find out more email my wonderful PA, Dana Hartnell at nicolecodyinfo@gmail.com and she’ll send you some more information and an Expression of Interest form.

And if you’d like to watch a short seven minute documentary about me and my retreats you can watch it here.

We look forward to having you join us for a very special and transformative experience.

Much love, Nicole  ❤ xoxo

How to use Intuition to Access Your Psychic Abilities

“Cease trying to work everything out with your minds. It will get you nowhere. Live by intuition and inspiration and let your whole life be Revelation.”
Eileen Caddy

We all have intuitive abilities – intuition is a glorious part of our human condition.  Problem is, most of us don’t know how to use it.

Today I’m going to take myself right back to the beginning. I’ll share with you some of the stronger intuitive moments I had before I began to really work with my psychic abilities.  I hope that by sharing them, you’ll be better able to recognise these moments in your own lives.  These aren’t fancy or sophisticated.  These are raw moments that led me to a different decision, understanding or action than if I’d just been coming from my head.

The more you listen to your intuition, the more your body attunes to those messages. It begins to heighten your sensitivity. This then begins to develop your extraordinary sensory perception (ESP) and opens the door to your psychic capabilities. All of the small messages to which we pay attention pave the way for the stronger and more important messages to come.

Intuition and gut instinct communicate with us in so many ways. You might get a flash of strong emotion, an image or a movie in your head, a feeling in your body, a sense of deja vu.  You might have an incredibly vivid dream, or a waking dream. Or, you might just know…

Here are some of my own experiences, as a guide for you.

Some of them weren’t about positive things:

In primary school I woke up in the middle of the night because something was wrong.  I could smell smoke, and I felt very anxious. I padded through the house in my pyjamas, but everyone was asleep and everything was as it should be. I climbed back into bed and all I could think about was a girl I knew at school. I wondered if she was angry with me.  The next morning I found out that her house had burned down in the middle of the night.  They were all okay. And their house was too far away from mine for me to have heard a siren or to have smelled anything.  They lost everything.

Early in high school, I had a creepy feeling about a family friend. While everyone else liked him, he made me incredibly uneasy. To me his eyes looked ‘too bright’ – like a bird’s eyes’s somehow, always watching, and watching too intensely. Although I couldn’t explain it, I felt very unsafe around him, and I felt that he was full of secrets. Nothing could convince me that he was a nice guy. I could ‘feel’ a wrongness about him somehow.  One day when I was left at home alone with him (he was working as a tradesman and I was home sick from school) he tried to sexually assault me. Mum came home unexpectedly, and I made sure after that to never be around him alone.  Years later, he went to prison – convicted of serial pedophilia and child pornography crimes, mostly against very young boys.

During a university break, a friend asked me to travel north to pick up a car she had just purchased.  We would drive it home together, stopping at beaches and interesting places along the way. Initially I said yes. It sounded like fun. But then everything seemed to conspire against me. I couldn’t get time off from work, I got food poisoning, one of my grandparents went to hospital. Nothing was working in my favour. I ended up saying no, but instead of feeling bad, I was flooded with this strange sense of relief. About two days after she left for her journey I got this metallic taste in my mouth, and I could smell something like hot brakes on a car.  Then I had a tumbling sensation, like being on one of those wild rides at a sideshow.  It came and went for about a week, and I found it distressing, but I had no idea what it was all about. Then it just stopped.  A few days later my friend’s parents called to me she had rolled her car on a dirt road heading down  a hill to a remote beach, and been badly injured. She spent months in hospital.

Some of my intuitive experiences have also been about very positive things:

At primary school I sat an examination to win a scholarship to one of Brisbane’s private high schools. Part of the examination required us to write creatively using one of a range of sentences as a starter. The words poured out of me and I just knew they were good. Although I felt unsure about my performance with the rest of the long examination, I was sure about that essay.  I knew it would win me a scholarship.  I felt a great certainty. The day that the letter came, I also knew. I just knew something really good was about to happen.  I felt light and happy all day.  When I came home mum had bought a cake and my grandparents had bought me a posy of flowers. My letter of offer was propped up on the kitchen table beside them. I’d won.

One day I was invited to a costume party.  I had no costume, and no idea where to get one from. I had to drive across town to meet a friend, and for some reason I decided not to take the freeway.  As I drove through a particular suburb, I decided for some inexplicable reason to turn right off the main road.  There in front of me was a massive costume hire place. I felt so very clever! And I found an awesome pirate outfit…

Image from gumtree.com

Many of you will already know this story, and it has happened long after I began working with my psychic gifts.  But it shows you how my intuition is still guiding me, even when my mind is somewhere else.  I was shopping, late one scorchingly hot summer afternoon, and I heard a sound like a peeping chicken in the shopping centre carpark. I couldn’t ignore it.  I was compelled to go and investigate, although I needed to get home because I had plans I’d been looking forward to all day. Something made me get out of the car, and go looking for the chicken. Of course it wasn’t a chicken – instead I found a tiny puppy, almost dead from heat and dehydration. I brought him home, and took him to the vet, who didn’t hold out much hope that he would survive the night. He proved everyone wrong, and Bert became a wonderful member of our family.

Beautiful Bert!

All you ever have to do with your intuition is listen, and go with what you are feeling or being shown. The more you use it, the easier it gets.  Intuition becomes stronger. Your senses become attuned to more of the flow of Universal wisdom and energy. We are all intuitive. That is our birthright. Like me, sometimes in life, for no apparent reason, you’ll just know.

Often, as people move into a space of psychic awakening, their daily lives becomes a constant stream of intuitive thoughts and experiences. This can be very confronting or disruptive but it settles down quickly the more that you honour and accept this intuitive aspect of yourself.

How about you? What has happened for you in your life that was guided by intuition? I’d love to know!

Much love to you, Nicole xx

Announcing Temple of Light Meditation Retreat 23 to 29 September, 2017

“The calm within the storm is where peace lives and breathes. It is not within perfect circumstances or a charmed life… it is not conditional. Peace is a sacred space within, it is the temple of our internal landscape. We are free to visit it, whenever we seek sanctuary. Underneath the chaos of everyday living, peace is patiently awaiting our discovery… go within.”
~  Jaeda DeWalt

I’m excited to announce my next residential retreat – my Temple of Light ™ Shamanic Meditation Retreat, to be held at Sangsurya, Byron Bay from the 23rd to the 29th of September, 2017

This isn’t your ordinary meditation course. This retreat is essentially an opportunity to connect more deeply with your Soul Energy and Guides than you might ever have thought possible. Let me tell you more…

There is a very special meditation that I practice on a very regular basis. It’s not just a meditation, it’s a destination – and it’s one of the things that has most helped me to come into my own intuitive and psychic abilities, and that has enabled me to deal with health problems, pain and suffering when there was no other help available.

In Ancient cultures our transitions from childhood to puberty, and from puberty to adulthood were marked by ritual, ceremony and the exchange of information. The rituals were especially important for individuals with psychic awareness. These individuals were given specific training in meditation and energy techniques to help them to connect with and explore their abilities, to travel deep within themselves, and to move into connection with the spiritual realms.

We have not yet advertised this retreat, but the demand is high and many places have already been filled from people who have been waiting since 2012 when I last ran this event.

Will one of the last places be for you?

To find out more email my wonderful PA, Dana Hartnell, directly at nicolecodyinfo@gmail.com and she’ll send you some more information and an Expression of Interest form. Please be patient. We are in school holidays right now and Dana is a work-from-home mum so don’t expect an immediate response, but I promise she will get to you just as soon as she can.

We look forward to having you join us for a very special and transformative experience.

Much love, Nicole <3 xoxo

Turquoise – A Great Stone For Healers and Empaths

“A turquoise given by a loving hand carries with it happiness and good fortune.” ~ Arabic proverb

Last week I made a simple turquoise and rose quartz necklace for a friend, and it has been charging up in one of my amethyst caves ever since. I’ll give it to her today – a gift to thank her for all her help as my acupuncturist’s assistant. Her caring and skill have helped me through some difficult days.

I chose turquoise because it is such a supportive stone for healers and empaths. I also added a small rose quartz for love and nurture – replenishing the energy that is so lovingly given out to others. Turquoise is a wonderful crystal. It shields the wearer energetically, and helps to process and let go of emotions that are generated or picked up during work with others. It is very protective of the heart chakra, and clears grief, guilt and trauma.

The emotions of grief, guilt and trauma can move deep into the body. They sit in our throats, our lungs, our hearts, our bellies. It can be our own feelings, or the energies we shift form other people and then take on as our own. Unexpressed, these trapped emotions weaken our immune function, and our digestion. They affect our physical organs, making them more prone to illness and, over time, dis-ease.

Holding grief, guilt and trauma within our bodies is a place that many intuitive, empathic and deeply caring people find ourselves. To love and to care is also to expose ourselves to hurt and to loss. Loving and caring deeply is risky, because when you live in that open-hearted state, love goes hand in hand with suffering. Still, I would advocate that you love anyway. That you care anyway.

One of your greatest gifts is that you care. One of your greatest gifts is that you can live heart-opened. Don’t change that. Just learn to manage it better.

Turquoise, worn on the centre line of the body, is a beautiful crystal for supporting healers in all modalities. Maybe you’d benefit from wearing one too!

Lots of love to you, Nicole xoxo

Chakra Journal Challenge – Week 7

“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”
― Audre Lorde

Hello, and welcome to Week Seven of our Chakra Journal Challenge!

Every Tuesday in March and April I will post a Journal Challenge for you, based upon a journey through the main chakras. You don’t need to know anything about journalling, chakras, crystals, oracle cards or energy work. I’ll explain everything that you need to do each week. Then you’ll have a week to complete the simple activities I share.

If you’re only just joining us please go back and read my Orientation Post first.

About the Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra anchors our perception. Our Third Eye taps into the pineal gland which works with our brain to create images beyond what we can physically see. The colour of this chakra is Indigo – a rich purple-blue.

The Third Eye Chakra is the most powerful chakra in your body for creating through vision. The activity of Imagining/dreaming,/visualising yourself as you would like to be in the world (so that you hold a perception of reality now but also the reality that you would like to see in the future) taps into the command center of your brain. What your mind sees cannot be differentiated between real or imagined so if you keep feeding your brain through your Third Eye Chakra, through your imagining wonderful images, your brain will accept this as reality, and your life will begin to shift to match that new reality.

Seeing energy, tapping into clairvoyance, telepathy skills, intuition, psychic perception – that’s the other thing that the Third Eye Chakra is all about. And of course it’s where you appreciate everything that come to us through vision, including things like art.

When the Third Eye Chakra is balanced you will find it easy to hold a positive picture of yourself and a positive picture of your future. You will be inspired and optimistic. You will feel spiritually connected and spiritually curious in the world. When your Third Eye begins to flow and ‘wake up’ you have a sense of interest and excitement about tapping into your higher intuition and you often have that questing feeling; that needing to feel more, be more, experience more from a spiritual and metaphysical point of view.

When the Third Eye becomes really overactive, you often have headaches and sometimes you can even have hallucinations, nightmares and bad dreams. When you feel detached from yourself, detached from the world, in your head too much and not able to find direction or feel joy and inspiration from being able to imagine things, then you know you’ve got a low-functioning Third Eye.

Weekly Structure

Each week of this nine week challenge will follow the same format:

  1. We will begin with the short guided meditation for the week, using your guidance stone. During this meditation you’ll be given a colour to work with for the week, and a word or phrase.
  2. We will choose an oracle card to give us inspiration and direction for the week ahead.
  3. We will spend ten minutes (or more if desired!) to complete our weekly journal prompt.
  4. We will give ourselves healing energy at least once this week.
  5. We will spend a few moments at the end of our day in gratitude.

Guided Meditation:

Today we’re going to use the sound of my Tibetan Singing Bowl in our meditation. You’ll need about ten minutes for this exercise.

Allow the sound to enter your Third Eye Chakra. Feel like you are opening a doorway in your forehead for the sound to enter.

Then just listen to the meditation as directed.

Allow your Power Word and Power Colour to come to you.

You can listen to the meditation here:

Journal Prompts

Now answer the following questions, writing as little or as much as you need:

  • What does your Power Colour mean to you? What words or ideas does it provoke? Write them down. Then use that colour to boost your energy. Shut your eyes for thirty seconds and breathe it into your body whenever you feel a bit flat or low. Wear it as clothing. Choose flowers in your colour. Eat food that colour. Be creative with it.
  • How can you use your Power Word this week? Write a few ideas, based on your word. Trust whatever comes and write it down. Don’t overthink it.

Want to go deeper with your journalling? Try these additional prompts. Write the beginning of the sentence and then keep going, using stream of consciousness. Do one or all of them. You’ll be amazed what you might discover about yourself!

  • When I connect into the energy of my Third Eye Chakra it makes me strong to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Third Eye Chakra it makes me scared to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Third Eye Chakra it makes me curious to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Third Eye Chakra it makes me excited to think that…

Your Chakra Card For The Week:

Take your chosen oracle or tarot cards, offer up a small prayer that whatever you do be for your Highest Good, and then shuffle the deck. As you’re shuffling, ask the question ‘What wisdom does my Third Eye Chakra have for me this week?’ Say it out loud or hold it as a thought in your head. Either will work.

Choose one card. How you choose is up to you. Split the deck. Fan them out. Top or bottom. Dive right in. There is no right or wrong.

Now look at your card and hold your guidance stone in your non-writing hand. Really look at the card. Don’t use the book or the ‘proper’ meaning. We are being intuitive here, people! What stands out for you in the picture? What thoughts and ideas do the images provoke? Take a minute or two and write those thoughts down. I know, you might feel like you’re just making it all up. That’s okay. Write anyway. Trust that there is a part of you that is wise and that has been waiting for this chance to speak with your conscious mind.

Here’s an example of my first journal pages for the Third Eye Chakra:

Hands On Healing:

This week our hands-on healing can be done at any time during the day. It’s a great healing to do last thing at night, in bed, just before you go to sleep.

  1. Sit or lie comfortably and with a straight spine.
  2. Shake out your hands and activate your hand chakras. (Can’t remember how? Go back and review our Orientation Post)
  3. Now gently use the fingers of both hands (not thumbs) to tap lightly on your Third Eye Chakra which is in the middle of your forehead
  4. Then place one hand on your forehead and one hand on your heart. Let white light flow from your hands into your body.
  5. When your body is filled with light, run purple light from one hand to the other, in a  gigantic healing loop. Feel the purple light connecting your heart and your mind. Feel your Third Eye Chakra energising and opening.
  6. Let the colour of the energy change as you do this, if any other colours come to you and feel right.
  7. Finish with white or golden light into your body.
  8. Sit quietly and be open to any psychic or intuitive connection or information that may come. Hold yourself open to vision and understanding about your best self and highest expression.

You can also do this healing  when you first wake up. Enjoy!

Practicing Gratitude

The Gratitude Rock anchors positive energy and gratitude at the end of every day.  You can carry your stone with you, or leave it beside your bed.  At night, before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock in your hand.

gratitude-rock

As you hold the stone say to yourself: I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now here’s the fun bit – imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this journalling challenge with you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people.

Say Thank you. I Bless You. I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance.Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.

Chakra Journal Challenge: Week 1 – Feet Chakras

week-1-feet-chakra-1

“It was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole.”
~ Rupi Kaur

Hello, and welcome to Week One of our Chakra Journal Challenge!

About the Feet Chakras

The foot chakras are located in the soles of your foot, right about where your foot arches. The colour associated with the chakras in the feet is a rich orangey-brown colour, like terracotta.

Your feet chakras anchor you into the healing and calming energies of the earth, and help you to stay centred in your body. When your feet chakras are open and connected you’ll feel at home in yourself and at peace with the world.

I’ve added a number of activities to help you with your feet chakras, as this is one of the energy centres most blocked in people.

Here’s an example of my first pages, just to give you an idea of what we’ll be doing:

Hands On Healing:

These simple steps can help you to unblock and activate the chakras in your feet. If you are short on time, completing Step 7 is enough. But if you have a little more nurture time available to you, try the entire ritual:

  1. Take a large tub of warm water and place a number of smooth stones or tumbled crystals in the bottom.  Place your bare feet in the water and roll your feet over the stones until they feel energised. I like to use a variety of crystals that work with each of the major chakras so that I have a rainbow of colour. But I always advise you just to use what you are drawn to. Trust that your own soul knows best what it is you need.
  2. Dry your feet and then stand barefoot upon the earth. Look down at your feet and visualise the chakra in the sole of your foot spinning and opening and energetically connecting into the energy of the Earth. Really allow yourself to feel this connection.
  3. Shake the tension out of your hands, loosen your shoulders and give your body a good energetic shake out.
  4. Now raise your arms up to the sky and draw the energy of the sun and the moon and the stars down in through your hands and the top of your head.
  5. Draw the energy of the earth up through your feet. Feel strong like a well grounded tree, roots deep down into the earth.
  6. Have all of the energy meet at your heart; healing, balancing and empowering your entire body.
  7. Finally, nurture and nourish your foot chakras and help anchor that grounded energy by rubbing a few drops of pure sesame oil into the soles of your feet. Sesame oil also helps us open to abundance and to be comfortable with flow and positive manifestation. Rub your hands together and activate your hand chakras. (Need help to do that? See last week’s post here.) Direct white light energy into your feet chakras. After you begin it is absolutely fine if you feel that you want to change the colour of the energy healing you are giving yourself. When you are finished, shake out your hands, close your eyes and sit quietly for a minute or two. Empty your mind of thoughts and just ‘be’.

Working with your foot chakras is a simple act of self nurture than can give lasting benefits and improved well-being on all levels.
