Hello, Lovelies :)

Breathe a sigh of relief. May is here with her gentle heart-nurturing energies, after the upheavals, revelations and hard work of April.

We’ve identified or faced the difficult stuff, and now that we know where we stand the only way for us to move is forward. Of course May also reminds us that we might need a cup of tea and a nap first – and that’s perfectly okay!

Cards for the Month:

I’ve chosen two cards for May for you: one from the Osho Zen Tarot Deck, and one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle. Please note I don’t use these cards in the conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channelled information.

May is a heart-centred month. Our little soul garden has such potential for blooming and flourishing now. May encourages us to get out of the shadow of others and shine our own light. It’s a month where projects and ideas can thrive and we begin to trust our own judgement.

It’s a month where we can develop deep and lasting love connections, and where we can finally heal from the pain of previous heartbreak – whatever the cause.

May shows us how to be independent in love, rather than collapsing into relationships and situations that swallow us whole so that we lose our sense of self or surrender what is dear to us in order that a relationship might work. In May we see that losing ourselves in love isn’t the way to love anyone, especially ourselves.

May is also a great month for overcoming addictions, and healing our body, mind and spirit of deep wounds and traumas so that we can stand strong again.

The second card I’ve chosen is Peace. In May we are encouraged to drop the things from our lives that pull us into craziness, pain or chaos. Strong boundaries may be needed. It’s also a time for forgiveness, no matter how long a burden of pain has been carried.

If you do one thing in May, let it be an act of forgiveness. Forgiveness untethers you from being stuck in the past. It gives you wings. It gifts you freedom. It restores peace. Sometimes, that is also the precious gift your forgiveness gives someone else.

Forgiveness ultimately is about freeing yourself, even if it is someone else you are forgiving. Remember that. It never validates or justifies what happened. It merely says that you are going to put the burden of this heavy thing down now, so that your energy can flow again and you can move away from the pain.

Forgives needs to start with yourself. Every day is a fresh beginning, if only you will allow that. You woke up this morning different to who you were yesterday. Sometimes the change is big. Sometimes it is infinitesimally small. But you changed. So did the other people on this planet. Allow for that possibility in yourself and others, while always maintaining kindness, compassion and common sense.

If you extend an olive branch to another and it is rejected? Be at peace with that. Respect that other person’s choices. Let it be peaceful on your side of the relationship. Be glad that you tried. Flow love anyway. Know that no might not mean never – it might simply not be the right timing yet.

Create space in your life for quiet and peace this month. Find a space that can be your sanctuary or create one. (Not sure how to do that? My lovely friend Helen Joy Butler can help. Go check out her website here)

The Energies of April – 2017

April has landed, and with it comes strong energy for believing in ourselves and reclaiming our direction.

This is your life. It’s yours to design and to live as you please, whether you realise it or not. This month you’re supported to untangle old thoughts of not-good-enough, and to identify what’s working, what’s broken and where to from here.

 

Cards for the Month:

April brings our focus firmly to our thoughts and self-talk. It encourages us to see ourselves more kindly, and to heal self-doubt and low self-worth issues that have held us back from being happy, choosing healthy relationships or putting our talents and gifts out into the world.

If you’re an overthinker, April gifts you supportive energies for moving to a place of greater trust in the Universe and in your own problem-solving abilities and resilience.

April highlights areas in our lives where we are out of step, where the pressure is too much, or our expectations are unrealistic, and it alerts us to the danger signs of burnout. It helps us become aware of where we are wasting time on people, situations and projects that do not support us, and shines a light on the things that truly matter to us on a heart level, on a soul level. April helps us to reclaim our personal and intuitive direction, and to live in more sustainable ways.

 

The second card I’ve chosen is Co-Create. What a supportive and uplifting message! You’re reminded that you are never alone, and that you are a creative being, simply by virtue of being human.

So many of your ideas are sound. But you don’t trust them. Or you don’t invest any energy in them. Or you talk them to death without ever having taken a single step to turn them from thoughts into actions.

Co-Create reminds you that when you take a step towards your dreams the Universe steps with you. You are always supported. Helpful people turn up. You find just the right teacher or resource. The perfect partner sits next to you on the bus. Things somehow fall into place.

But that Universal Support is accessed through the act of self-trust and self-belief. Which doesn’t mean you need to be some kind of self-assured egomaniac. You can still have doubt. You can still be scared. But in that place of doubt and scariness keep putting one foot in front of the other. Keep moving. Keep doing. Keep dreaming. Keep acting on your dreams.

You’ll find your self-belief and resilience through action. Never through thinking.

Pray. Call on your Guides, Angels and Ancestors. Meditate. Visualise. Write it all down. But most importantly, get active in creating this month. Who knows what magic can come of it?

Snowflake Obsidian balances mind, body and spirit, and helps you to quieten an overbusy mind. It also helps you to let go of negative or obsessive behaviours.

Selenite  taps you into wisdom and gifts in this and from previous lifetimes. It is calming and strengthens connection to Guides and Angels.

Chakra Journal Challenge: Week 2 – Base Chakra

Hello, and welcome to Week Two of our Chakra Journal Challenge!

Every Tuesday in March and April I will post a Journal Challenge for you, based upon a journey through the main chakras. You don’t need to know anything about journalling, chakras, crystals, oracle cards or energy work. I’ll explain everything that you need to do each week. Then you’ll have a week to complete the simple activities I share.

If you’re only just joining us please go back and read my Orientation Post first. It will also list all other posts in this challenge that precede this one.

 

About the Base Chakra

The Base Chakra connects our Soul into the power of our physical body, helping us remain in the ‘now’ or present moment.

This chakra governs and influences our ability to feel ‘at home’ and safe in our bodies and the wider world.  It connects us to our tribe – our family, lovers and friends.

It enables us to be grounded and calm, emotionally and physically strong and stable. It allows us to be in the flow of abundance, to meet our needs, to be secure, and to flourish financially, emotionally, and physically.  It is where all of our beliefs about money and the ability to support ourself resides. It allows us to be confident, self-assured, purposeful and practical.  It gives us our ‘fire’.  It governs our elimination and the ‘letting go’ of what no longer serves us. It enables us to be decisive, connected and empowered. It balances and ignites our masculine and feminine energies.

The Base Chakra is situated between your legs at the base of your pubic area, and it points down towards the ground. The colour of the Base Chakra is a bright, vibrant red.

Weekly Structure

Each week of this nine week challenge will follow the same format:

  1. We will begin with the short guided meditation for the week, using your guidance stone. During this meditation you’ll be given a colour to work with for the week, and a word or phrase.
  2. We will choose an oracle card to give us inspiration and direction for the week ahead.
  3. We will spend ten minutes (or more if desired!) to complete our weekly journal prompt.
  4. We will give ourselves healing energy at least once this week.
  5. We will spend a few moments at the end of our day in gratitude.

 

Guided Meditation:

You’ll need twelve minutes to listen to this short guided meditation. Feel free to hold your crystal while you meditate. When the meditation is complete, write down your power colour and your power word or phrase for the week in your journal.

Note: I apologise for the background noise in this meditation. I recorded it here in the Philippines where I am currently at a conference. This was my seventh effort, and I just couldn’t find a place anywhere that was perfectly quiet. I’ll re-record it when I get back to Australia but for now do your best to ignore the few background distractions of voices outside my room!

Journal Prompts:

Now answer the following questions, writing as little or as much as you need:

  • What does your Power Colour mean to you? What words or ideas does it provoke? Write them down. Then use that colour to boost your energy. Shut your eyes for thirty seconds and breathe it into your body whenever you feel a bit flat or low. Wear it as clothing. Choose flowers in your colour. Eat food that colour. Be creative with it.
  • How can you use your Power Word this week? Write a few ideas, based on your word. Trust whatever comes and write it down. Don’t overthink it.
  • What other insights did you get?

Want to go deeper with your journalling? Try these additional prompts. Write the beginning of the sentence and then keep going, using stream of consciousness. Do one or all of them. You’ll be amazed what you might discover about yourself!

  • When I connect into the energy of my Base Chakra it makes me strong to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Base Chakra it makes me scared to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Base Chakra it makes me curious to think that…

Your Chakra Card For The Week:

Take your chosen oracle or tarot cards, offer up a small prayer that whatever you do be for your Highest Good, and then shuffle the deck. As you’re shuffling, ask the question ‘What wisdom does my Base Chakra have for me this week?’ Say it out loud or hold it as a thought in your head. Either will work.

Choose one card. How you choose is up to you. Split the deck. Fan them out. Top or bottom. Dive right in. There is no right or wrong.

Now look at your card and hold your guidance stone in your non-writing hand. Really look at the card. Don’t use the book or the ‘proper’ meaning. We are being intuitive here, people! What stands out for you in the picture? What thoughts and ideas do the images provoke? Take a minute or two and write those thoughts down. I know, you might feel like you’re just making it all up. That’s okay. Write anyway. Trust that there is a part of you that is wise and that has been waiting for this chance to speak with your conscious mind.

Hands On Healing:

These simple steps can help you to unblock and activate your Base Chakra.

  1. Shake the tension out of your hands, loosen your shoulders and give your body a good energetic shake out.
  2. Lie down and make yourself comfortable.
  3. Activate your hand chakras by shaking your hands again and then rubbing them together a few times.
  4. Place your hands over your groin and direct energy into your Base Chakra. You may visualise this as bright red energy, or as your Power Colour.
  5. Give yourself five minutes of hands-on healing.
  6. It’s okay to fall asleep while doing this. Otherwise, when you are finished just lie quietly for a few more minutes to integrate the healing before shaking out your hands to finish the healing session. Be open to any thoughts or images that come to you as you rest.

 

Practicing Gratitude:

The Gratitude Rock anchors positive energy and gratitude at the end of every day.  You can carry your stone with you, or leave it beside your bed.  At night, before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock in your hand.

As you hold the stone say to yourself: I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now here’s the fun bit – imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this journalling challenge with you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people.

Say Thank you. I Bless You. I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance.Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.

Chakra Journal Challenge: Orientation

Hello, and welcome to Week One of our Chakra Journal Challenge!

This week is an orientation week. Today I’ll be taking you through each of the steps that we’ll be using during the Challenge.

  • A new journal. Choose one that feels right for you. Make sure there are enough pages to get you through nine activities.
  • Some pens and pencils.
  • A crystal or stone to use as a gratitude and focus stone. (If you’re doing my Year of ME program feel free to use your 2017 stone for this challenge!)
  • A deck of oracle or tarot cards.
  • A sense of adventure and a readiness to explore your inner world.

NB: A note on choosing oracle or tarot cards – choose cards whose pictures and messages are meaningful to you. Avoid cards such as tarot decks that show only coins or cups etc. Instead choose a deck whose imagery really speaks to you. It’s the pictures that matter. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to use them. I’ll be showing you.

Giving yourself healing and energy is a great act of self-care. This week I encourage you to practice this simple skill in readiness for the coming activities.

Activating your Hand Chakra

Throughout history there are references to hands-on healing, and the laying on of the hands. But what exactly does that mean?

We are all energetic beings, and we are all capable of feeling energy, and giving energy to ourselves or others. Today I’m going to show you how to activate your own hand chakras, so that you can begin to feel energy in the world around you, and so that you can also begin to explore the concept of hands-on healing.

It’s a very simple process, but don’t be disappointed by the simplicity. Simple techniques are often the most powerful, and if all of us are energetic beings by nature, why shouldn’t this be simple?

Step One:

Take a few relaxing breaths, and centre yourself. Stand or sit with a straight spine.

Hold your hands out in front of you and shake them as if you’re flicking water off them. Then put the palms of your hands together and rub them vigorously.

Step Two:

Now gently separate your hands by about an inch or two. You should feel an energy like warmth, or a golden ball of light, between the palms of your hands.

Step Three:

Play with this energy. Stretch your hands apart a little more and see if you can still feel that energy between your palms. Experiment with drawing your hands apart and bringing them back close together, as if you had something sticky or elastic between your hands. See if you can increase and decrease the size of the golden ball of light between your hands.

If you lose the sensation, repeat Step One, and then try again.

Don’t worry if it takes a little while to fully open the chakras in your hands, or if you lose the sensation of that energy between them fairly quickly. It takes practice to strengthen your awareness of this energy.

This week, keep playing with this simple technique. As you get better at feeling the energy, practice activating your hand chakras, and then holding your hands over your own body, directing that beautiful energy back into you.

Can you feel heat or any form of energetic sensation as you do this? This is the beginning of being able to direct healing energy.

Next week we’ll begin to explore how we can use our hands to send energy to our chakras. Until then, keep practicing!

Join Me For A New Journalling and Oracle Card Challenge?

Keeping a journal is something I’ve done since I was a child. I don’t mean a simple diary, where you record the events of the day. You know what I mean… I ate this. I did this. Someone said that. No. I mean a place where I could explore ideas, talk with myself, and find my own answers.

Over the last few years I’ve created several journal challenges here on my blog, and I’ve just made a new one for you, to take advantage of the fabulous energies March and April bring for uncovering the hidden and neglected aspects of yourself, and for determining where you are out of step with yourself, so that you can bring your life into alignment with your true nature and values. It’s a great time for getting to know yourself better and for forging new directions in your life. Would you like to join me?

We’ll be starting this new challenge on Tuesday 28 February, so that you have time to gather your resources together. Our first Tuesday will be an orientation day. Then each Tuesday for March and April I will have a new journal activity for you to complete during the week. You’ll need a minimum of ten minutes to set aside each week for writing, and an additional five minutes per day for five out of seven days for energy work on yourself to facilitate your own healing and wellbeing. I’ll teach you everything you need to know. You can be a complete beginner at all of this!

I will be using the Chakras as a guide for this challenge. You don’t need to know anything about them either. All you need to do is bring a willingness to know yourself better.

That’s my own journal, cards and stones in the picture below. I’ll be right beside you doing each week’s activities too. My gratitude rock is a smoky quartz and amethyst point (that’s the big one – the other two are a tourmalinated quartz and a prehnite that live in the same bag as my oracle cards and who came with me on my holidays). The oracle cards I’ll be using are Colette Baron-Reid’s Enchanted Map cards. And I just bought a new journal from a cool bookstore here in Vietnam, where I am currently travelling. It’s just the right size for our challenge and not too heavy in my luggage. (I won’t tell you about the other five journals I bought at the same place…)

The Week Ahead – Oracle for Monday 13 February 2017

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead. I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Growth’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for February, you’ll remember that February is all about turning inwards, and tuning in to our own wants and needs, staying true to ourselves and our goals despite our fears or what other people may tell us.

So, what gifts does Growth bring for you this week?

Growth reminds us that it takes time to work out who we are. It’s okay to be unsure. It’s also okay if it feels quite strange to begin honouring our own wishes, desires, decisions and needs after a lifetime of putting them second or hiding them off to one side.

Be aware – a side-effect of you beginning to speak up, or behaving and choosing differently is that some people might suddenly think that you’ve gone mad. Or that you need advice or therapy!

When we shift and change it can be quite confronting for the people around us who are still in the same space, and who expect that we’ll keep on being the same too. Our change creates change in the status quo for them, and change can be uncomfortable.

Growth reminds us that change and uncertainty are okay. There’s nothing wrong with you. You don’t need to be fixed because you’re not broken. You’re just evolving.

A big old tree began as a seed, which became a tiny seedling. Over time it grew and grew until it took the form you see today. But just like you it’s a work in progress. How the tree looks today is not how it will look in a year’s time or ten years time. Life is about change.

Embrace that concept of change this week. Grow. Move towards the light.

Trust your intuition and instincts. Keep growing, even if you don’t know yet what you are evolving into. It will all be okay. Embrace not knowing. Just keep growing!

Supportive crystals this week? Ametrine, White Howlite, Fluorite, Orange Calcite, Labradorite, Moonstone, Carnelian. Go with the one that feels right to you, or choose a few.

Helpful essential oils?  Young Living’s Joy or Acceptance essential oil blends, or  a combination (or singly!) of any of Rose, Rosemary, Lemon, Vetiver and Lavender. The Joy blend is fabulous if you are feeling anxious or uncertain, or a bit sad or stuck. It’s reassuring and uplifting; wonderful for gently shifting depression and self-doubt.

Hello, Lovelies :)

Suddenly, here we are at February. After the fresh hopes and the new beginnings offered by January and the dawning of 2017, some of you may now be feeling a little less optimistic, a little less enthusiastic, a little more overwhelmed.

Or a lot.

But take heart. There is a groundswell of energy in February that speaks of a return to alignment and integrity, and a need for the values and principles of your heart to be reflected in the life you live. Breathe out fear and breathe in love. Anchor love and light in yourself and in your corner of the world. Radiate love and calm to those around you. And most importantly – live true to yourself and your values this month. Stand in your integrity. Speak up for what you believe in. Act from love and compassion. That’s what’s most needed in our lives and in the world right now.

I’ve chosen two cards for February for you: one from the Osho Zen Tarot Deck, and one from Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Oracle. Please note I don’t use these cards in the conventional way, but rather as a stimulus for channelled information.

February brings a counter-balance to the more exuberant energies of January. In February we’re asked to turn inwards, and to tune in to our own wants and needs. Find quiet time for reflection this month. Get some periods of time on your own, even if it’s just an hour. Walking, meditating, time in nature, quiet nights at home – these are all great activities for February.

This is an important month for staying true to yourself and your vision and goals, despite what other people might say or advise. No matter your own doubts in your abilities. Look for mentors and friends who will support you and lift you up. Sign up to study and self-enrichment work.

February whispers words of encouragement in your ear. It’s time to back yourself and your plans. It’s time to honour your truth and to be yourself, with no apologies. Work on your future. Commit to your ideas and decisions. Stay strong and trust yourself! Nurture that garden and plant more seeds.

It’s also a fabulous month for developing more intuition and psychic ability. This takes quiet time and the ability to slow down and pay attention to the world around you, and the feelings within your own body. Meditation will make everything better in February!

The second card I’ve chosen is Orphaned. The picture captures so well the devastating loneliness that comes when we try to change or disguise ourselves to fit in or gain approval, and even after all of that soul denial we find ourselves (or aspects of ourselves) unaccepted and unloved.

In February, decide that it is best to be yourself and to be loved for who you are.

Get counselling to help you overcome the wounds and pains of past or existing relationship.

Make your emotional well-being a priority. If you are in friendships, workplaces or love relationships where you have to keep yourself small or hide major aspects of yourself in order to satisfy others, or where the situation goes against your values and beliefs, consider leaving.

Life is too short to be unhappy in an unfulfilling situation. Better to give yourself the chance to be loved and appreciated for who you are by starting over somewhere else.

The truth is that you are beautiful, you are valuable, you are worthy.

You are lovable, and you have the right to emotional fulfillment and to be able to freely express your thoughts, ideas and beliefs by being yourself.

Someone will love you. Someone will resonate with who you are. There will be a workplace where you don’t have to suffer bullying. There is no need to change or to hide yourself any longer. And that love must start with you – loving and valuing yourself enough to decide that you will no longer accept second-rate relationships and situations where you are not respected or valued.

 

Best crystals this month?

Essential oils to support your journey?

The essential oils you will find helpful in February are Rosemary, Lavender, Cedarwood, and Bergamot. Rosemary helps us to make good decisions and to problem-solve, Lavender keeps us in flow and relaxed, Cedarwood is grounding and supportive – especially when you feel anxious or overwhelmed, and Bergamot gifts us optimism and a sense of gratitude for our lives and the world around us. To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser.
