Wearing My Best Perfume

Odors have a power of persuasion stronger than that of words, appearances, emotions, or will. The persuasive power of an odor cannot be fended off, it enters into us like breath into our lungs, it fills us up, imbues us totally. There is no remedy for it.

Hey, Lovelies.

You know, I don’t get out much.

Maybe a trip out for a coffee. Maybe a drink with the neighbours. A visit to my Mum’s. An outing to the doctors. A walk on the beach.

But that doesn’t matter. I still put on one of my favourite perfumes every day.

Not for the world. For me.

When my health first deteriorated enough that I was no longer going out to corporate gigs, good perfume became a special occasion thing.

Then I nearly croaked it.

Life became a special occasion.

So, now I wear that good perfume. I use all of the things I kept for good.

And it’s wonderful.

How about you? Are you keeping things for ‘good’ or do you indulge yourself?

I highly recommend using the things that give you pleasure. Life’s too short not to!

Love, and heavenly scents, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. I think we do tend to keep things as too special to use. My grandmother and mothers generation went through war, the depression so things were treasured as you didn’t have a lot. I had very little growing up so all my life I have been careful and looked after my things.

One thing I did do though was to use them – often. To get further pleasure.

Ahhh Nicole, how I love perfume from when I was very young. Perfume, lipstick and earrings – a must before I walk out the door. Then I feel really dressed. Must go – visitors arriving soon – off to put perfume on. Have a lovely perfumy day.

  2. This has just confirmed my thought to bring out my Nana’s tea set for my daughter’s 9th birthday party. She is having a dreamed of high tea picnic in our garden with four friend’s. It is going to be very pretty and this tea set is the prettiest thing you could imagine. I used to sneak look’s in Nana’s cupboard when I was my daughter’s age. I loved it so much. When Nana died it was gifted to me. In all those years, I did not ever see my Nana use it. And now it is in a high cupboard that no-one (including myself) can sneak peeks of🥲So out it is coming and a new place to be found for it too. 🫖🍰🧁
