Keep Your Dreams Alive – Monday Oracle 14 August 2023

You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not?’
– George Bernard Shaw

Hello, Lovelies!

This Quarter I am using The Sacred Forest Oracle by Denise Linn, with artwork by Scott Breidenthal, for my weekly oracle readings.

Our card to guide us for the week ahead is 40. Standing Stones – PASSAGE.

2023 is a year for change, creating solid foundations, and for spiritual journeying. It’s a year for personal growth, and for clarifying who you are, what you want, and why you are here.

August encourages us to acknowledge ourselves as energetic as well as physical beings, and to find and give thanks for the sacred in our everyday lives as we nurture our dreams and open our hearts to opportunity.

40. Standing Stones – PASSAGE

The energies of this week encourage us to go within, to reconnect to our dreams, and to find the courage to take action to bring them into reality. This may be a dream for yourself, for your family or community, or for the planet.

It may also be that exhaustion, depression, anxiety or inner-conflict has left you disconnected from the things that are right in front of you. If that’s the case practice extreme self-care, and reach out the the people you love to let them know you’re doing it tough. Finding small ways to cultivate gratitude and appreciation for what you already have will help you find your way back to yourself.

Having a dream is never more important than when we are in a hard place, a dark place, a place from which the attainment of that dream seems impossible. Rise up this week. The energy of the Standing Stones offers us hope – it reminds us that dreams can only come alive THROUGH our words, deeds and actions. Thought is not enough – to think something is only the beginning of a chain of events that can lead us on that journey of transformation.

Feel like you’ve lost your dream, or that you never had one to begin with?

Know that this isn’t true. Our hearts never stop knowing. If you can’t find your dream please understand that it will be buried under pain, or exhaustion, or burnout, or self-loathing, or the criticism of others. It will have been covered over by the judgement or ridicule of people who have held authority in your life before now.

Despite all the negativity and well-meaning but incorrect advice that is heaped upon them, despite our own negative self-talk or the put-downs of others, our hearts hold onto their own truth.

Inside, our dreams continue to burn. Ideas flicker, waiting for a breeze to fan the flame. Our long-neglected interests and hobbies need only a ray of sunshine and a little fresh air to spring back into being.

This week those dreams and longings begin to come back into focus. A little more of ourselves is restored. Our courage grows.

My Top Tip For The Week Ahead:

When we give ourselves permission to follow a trail of breadcrumbs that can become a new direction, when we commit to our dreams and do what makes us happy, when we make space for what we passionately believe in, all kinds of magic flows into our lives. This week take steps to follow that trail, to do that thing, and then?  Trust in magic!

Crystals to support you this week – Clear Quartz, Citrine, Tiger Eye, Ruby, Black Tourmaline, any kind of Agate

What’s news at the Treehouse? What a difference one week, the right meds, and a good dose of rest can do. Afternoon naps and early nights are my thing right now. I’m still not brilliant, but I’m miles better than I was, especially in the eyeball department. Fingers crossed I keep trending upwards again. 🤞😊💗

A couple of things have had me thinking deeply this week.

The first is the number of friends, extended family and community (kids, adults, oldies) who are suffering from long-term unmitigated general anxiety about global events. Many of these people tell me they are fine. Then, later, further into our conversation, they will admit they are not sleeping well, they are having bad dreams, they are comfort eating or numbing themselves in other ways, they are snappy and intolerant with co-workers or loved ones, they are procrastinating on making decisions or doing what matters to them and can’t seem to find a way forward that helps them to feel better again.

I’m thinking about this a lot. For me. For all of you.

Still thinking, but feeling something beginning to form out at the edges of myself. I trust it will take form in its own good timing.

The second thing I have been thinking about is my friend Scott. Scott took up guitar about 3 years ago. It’s not his day job. He’s self taught. He doesn’t read music, although he knows chords. Scott doesn’t play covers. He just makes up his own songs. Often they are a one-take thing. He just plays, and sings, whatever comes to him, and records himself. Not for anyone else. Just for him, although occasionally he may feel called to share. Then he moves straight on to the next new tune. A poet-singer-troubadour kind of guy. It makes me outrageously happy to think of Scott making music for the joy of it, and for the joy of self-expression and discovery. Could there be anything more beautiful and soulful than that?

While I think about all of that anxiety in the world, I also think of Scott making music. It’s like the energy of his songs provides some kind of counterweight to the angst out there. Maybe more of us need to get lost in our art for a while.

So, that’s my update. Feels better than the space I was in a week. But even that awful space of inertia, pain and illness gifted me reflection time. It had its usefulness. It reminded me too that we adjust to the crappiness, and once we stop fighting the crappiness there is always room for reflection, self-discovery and magic.

Wishing you a week of magic, insights and moments of quiet joy, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. I love what you wrote about Scott. Bob and I were talking just the other night about how people used to make their own entertainment. Being an expert didn’t have anything to do with it; it was all about having fun. We need more of that in our world.

    1. I totally agree. We do need more of that in the world, and for ourselves. Creativity is such good medicine. Much love to you xx

  2. Nicole, thank you. If you were to ask me what my dreams are, I would tell you I stopped dreaming a long time ago. Yet, I wonder if I am lying to myself because while I do not “dream,” I do plan for the future and hope that I will be able to retire comfortably. I enjoy being creative and doing my crochet and needlework. I am learning to appreciate my family, friends, gardens, and watching the stray kittens play. I must remember to stop, breathe (not always easy), and be in the moment. Thank you for helping me be in the moment.

  3. Keeping one’s dreams alive is often hard to do when life seems to be pushing one down but we need to keep on trying because life is hard and dreams help keep us going generally speaking
