“Plan for what it is difficult while it is easy, do what is great while it is small.”
― The Art of War
Hello, Lovelies!
This Quarter I am using the Queen Of The Sun Oracle by Stacey Demarco, illustrated by Kinga Britschigi, for my weekly oracle readings.
Our card to guide us for the week ahead is 33. PREPARATION (MABON).
2024 is a year for fresh starts, for creativity, healing and social connection. It’s a year for ambitious projects and for getting stuff done.
October is a month for healing in all forms, for learning from the past and letting that help steer you towards your future goals and dreams, and for nurturing your Inner Child with play and self-care.
33. PREPARATION (MABON)
This week brings energies that support you to get stuff done, and to rekindle your joy of life. Look for ways to create balance, and be grateful for the blessings around you. The more you are aware of, and thankful for what is good in your life, the more you align yourself to those positive and fulfilling energies.
It’s a week for self-awareness, for checking in with yourself, and making sure that your needs, wants and desires are catered for – no matter how busy you are.
You’ll find increased motivation to work on tasks or projects for yourself, as well as allocating resources to your needs and dreams. You’ll also appreciate the benefits of finding time for pleasure and relaxation, as well as hobbies and interests.
Got tough stuff to do? Break it down into the smallest possible tasks, then make a start in one little corner. Keep chipping away at it. Don’t let the bigness of a task overwhelm you! Getting stuff done feels good. You can do this.
Remember the importance of setting time aside for yourself too – don’t let your days be eaten up by duty, obligation and supporting others at the expense of yourself.
You can’t work all the time. You can’t spend your life on the couch. You can’t surf the web all the time. You can’t spend your life disconnected. You can’t eat everything, as much as you want, all the time. You can’t spend your life counting every calorie. In everything there needs to be balance. So, tune in. What do you need more of? What do you need less of? Trust that the wisdom is already within you to make wise and informed choices.
Balance and sustainability aren’t meant to be intellectual concepts – they are intended to be lived experiences, but creating them starts with you.
This is also a powerful week for addressing addictions and habits that are destructive or limiting. It’s time to make better choices, and the Universe is cheering you on.
My Top Tip For The Week Ahead
This week it’s easier for us to view our lives from a higher perspective – to be less judgmental of ourselves and others and more able to see potential solutions and opportunities for breakthroughs. Pull a card or two around the situations that have troubled you, or where you seek guidance, a fresh perspective or new opportunities. Be open to the wisdom of the Universe. Take time to dream of a happier life for yourself.
Crystals to support you this week – Carnelian, Kambaba Jasper, Labradorite, Moldavite, Caribbean Calcite, Selenite
Ah, we’re home!
Goodness, it feels like we’ve been away forever. It also feels like our vacation was over in the blink of an eye.
We’ve come home to a garage full of planners, boxes of crystals (many of them unexpected from an order that was scheduled for delivery TWO YEARS AGO!) and a whole lot of new goodies that need to be sorted and stored, so that’s going to keep me busy this week as I get our ETSY store back online.
I have a massive crystal grid to take down after November 1 – which, in my head, seemed so far away, but is now only a few days off – after which the contents need to get shifted into our shed, packing room or my working crystal shelves. Have to do that bit on my own too, because I am the only one who knows what is what. At least Ben can lug the heavy boxes for me once I have everything sorted. Bless his helpful self!
And did I mention the amount of laundry that still needs doing, and all of the unpacking and putting away after our trip? Or the mess I left in my office and our bedroom that I now need to deal with because I panic-packed for our trip after totally underestimating how long my work to-do list would take me and was madly racing around the night before we left leaving chaos in my wake…
At least we have clean sheets and towels, and as of yesterday we finally have groceries, and toilet paper. So that’s a positive start.
It was an unusual holiday, but such a good one. I spent lots of time in nature, and most of my trip highlights were nature-based. I also learned that grey skies, rain and cold weather are not really my thing, after that initial novelty wears off. I’m an Aussie through and through. Give me big blue skies, lots of light, and plenty of warmth.
Weirdest thing that happened on our vacation? So many people commented on how smiley and friendly and happy I am. I thought that was just normal?
Worst moment of the trip? (Yes, people. Vacations can have hard bits. Don’t you find that with your own?) I walked down a very steep hill in San Francisco, and once we got to a flat bit and walked along my leg muscles kept twitching and were strangely weak, and that lasted for hours. Every time I did a big downhill walk the same thing happened, and I also noticed that when I had to bend my legs and step up (like to get in the back of a taxi) that my legs didn’t bend or behave properly, or have much power. That was a bit sobering.
Best moment of the trip? That’s a hard one. There were so many small and amazing moments. A few big grand ones too. But I still think that watching the green turtles grazing on the sea grass, and then swimming with them in Waikiki, might be my favourite. That sound they make when they come up to take a breath and they sigh out the last of the stale air in their lungs before they take another breath? Magic!
Yummiest food? Hmmm. That’s a BIG question, with no clear answer. Canadian pancakes in Canada with good maple syrup and Canadian Bacon? Amazing! A perfect steak dinner and local wine in a chop house in San Francisco. Excellent in every way. Freshly smoked fresh salmon fillets cooked over a wood fire in Alaska, served with a butter and brown sugar glaze, baked potato and a heaping pile of homemade coleslaw? Pretty darn spectacular. A cold glass of Longboard Lager, hot chips, and fresh tuna sashimi in Kona, Hawaii after an ocean swim on a hot day? Deeply satisfying. Non-menu Masala Chai and fragrant Indian curries shared with us on our cruise back to Australia after Ben and I told our Indian waiter how much we loved the cuisine of his country and he asked his friend the head chef, who was also Indian, to include us when he made meals for his back of house kitchen and wait staff? Seriously outstanding – plus, when we were missing good coffee, to suddenly have this amazing chai every morning was good for the soul.
This week I’ll get my head around what needs to happen between now and the end of the year, which is a lot. I’ll get settled back into a routine again, and get all my medical stuff attended to, or underway. And I will revel in catching up with family, being home with the pupsters, and sitting with the big old trees that I missed so much.
I’ll also be gearing up to sell our 10th Anniversary Edition Journeymaker’s Planner 2025 from my ETSY store (hope to have that all up some time on November 1) and getting our end-of-year packages ready for our Inner Circle members.
Want a Planner before then?
Our 2025 edition of the Journeymaker’s Planner is now available at
Amazon USA and Amazon Australia.
