Today’s post is designed to help familiarise you with some basic techniques you’ll need for our  Oracle Card Challenge, which is starting tomorrow.

Oracle or Tarot cards are a a tool to help tune you in to your own intuition and inner knowing. We’re going to work with them in ways that expand our own inner knowing and connection.

It is possible that you may choose the same card more than once over the course of this challenge. Each time you choose a card, treat it as a whole new message. You may find yourself having several interpretations from just one card over time, depending on the questions you have asked.


Choosing your Deck

Choose a deck of Oracle or Tarot cards based solely upon the pictures. Avoid Tarot decks that have pictures of coins or swords are cups as the primary image for a card. Choose your deck based upon the images and their ability to tell a story for you.

Current favourite decks of mine include Osho Zen Tarot, Colette Baron Reid’s oracle decks such as Enchanted Map and Wisdom of the Oracle, the Mythic Tarot and Tao Oracle Cards.

 

If you don’t have a deck you can use one of Colette Baron Reid’s online ones here.


Preparing the Deck

If the cards are new, shuffle through the cards taking a moment to look at and connect to each one.

Now shuffle the cards back together, or give the cards a shuffle if they are an existing deck.

Hold them between your two hands and visualise white light running into the cards. Offer up a small prayer or intention that these cards work with you for your Highest Good.

Now your cards are ready to go!


Choosing your Crystal or Stone

If you are working with the Year of ME Planner, use the stone you chose as your 2018 crystal.

Otherwise, choose a crystal or stone (it can even be from the garden or the beach) that appeals to you and that feels good in your hand.

Your Other Materials

You will also need a journal or some paper. You’re welcome to use the notes pages in your YOM (Year of ME Planner) too. At a minimum you’ll need a pen to write with, but feel free to have some different coloured pens, highlighters or pencils at your disposal to help make the information come alive in your journal.


Format for the Challenge

Each day you’ll need five to ten minutes. It’s a challenge you can do in your coffee break! You’ll use your crystal and do a short guided meditation, and then follow the instructions on the blog post to choose and interpret your card for the day.

Guided Meditation and Advice for Sensitive Souls and Emerging Psychics

As most of you know, I’m psychic, and have been this way to varying degrees all my life. All of us are intuitive – that’s our birthright, and it’s hardwired into us. Even the most disconnected or ‘non-believing’ of us will still have gut feelings or hunches strong enough that we can acknowledge and act upon them.

But some of us have a much greater sensitivity than that. If you have experienced any of the following (not as a result of mental illness, or a drug or illness induced state!) then this post is written for you:

  • lucid dreaming
  • deja vu
  • precognitive dreams or visions
  • awareness about people, places, objects or events that has no rational cause nor explanation
  • an ability to know information about people
  • sensing the energy field around people or places, and having that affect your body or emotions
  • seeing energy, faces, or other images either in your mind’s eye or through your own eyes
  • hearing voices or knowledge not your own – either as a physical sound, or as a voice, knowing or thought that arises inside you that you somehow understand is not your own
  • having remembrance or recognition of past lives
  • being drawn to psychic activities and tools, such as cards, books, courses, modalities and crystals – where you feel compelled to have or work with these, even when your rational mind protests or doesn’t understand
  • sudden recognition of things previously not known to you – such as knowing the names or uses for things outside your profession or fields of study, or knowing your way around a place you have not ever visited
  • sensing, seeing or hearing Guides, Angels, those who have crossed over, and other energetic beings
  • connection with star people, recurring dreams about or remembered incidences of UFO or alien encounters – these are often not threatening or unpleasant
  • recurring dreams for which you have no explanation
  • a strong sense that you are here to do something, to contribute something, to help in some way – this feeling becomes stronger over time until, if you haven’t worked out what it is yet, it becomes almost a sense of despair or desperation
  • saying or writing things without knowing where the information is coming from
  • performing healing, art, writing, music and other creative acts where you suddenly ‘know’ what to do, even if you have never been shown before
  • understanding animals, children or others with no voice to communicate
  • sudden strong emotions flooding over you that are totally unrelated to what is happening right now

I’m sure there’s more that I could add to that list, but that’s a start…

If you’re sensitive energetically then you are bound to be sensitive in other areas of your life.  This is especially true if you are going through a process of spiritual or psychic awakening. At a time of awakening, energies and abilities that have been dormant within you begin to assert themselves in your life.  This can be quite a turbulent and confusing time.

From long experience, these are my suggestions about how to live as a Sensitive Soul as you begin to Awaken.

  • Rest.  When we’re growing and changing, rest is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves.
  • Avoid crowded places such as shopping centres and football games when you are feeling particularly sensitive or energetically vulnerable.
  • Avoid difficult relationships and people who drain, upset or unbalance you.  Limit contact with the crazy-makers in your life.
  • Eat well.  Favour organic foods, with an emphasis on fresh, local produce, with plenty of leafy green vegetables and root vegetables, rice, pulses and yoghurt. Avoid processed food and sugar. Some people may need to avoid meat at this time.  Others may need meat to ground them.  Listen to your body.  If you’re especially sensitive avoid wheat as well.
  • Avoid alcohol, drugs and stimulants.
  • Take a good powdered magnesium supplement.  Your muscles and nervous system use magnesium to relax and it we also burn it like rocket fuel when we are engaging in energy work and psychic activity.
  • Drink plenty of fresh, clean water.
  • Use yoga, qi gong or tai chi to ground you and move energy through your body.
  • Spend time in nature.
  • Spend time on your own, exploring the things that interest you.
  • Avoid chemicals in your cleaning and personal care products. Avoid places that have a strong artificial or chemical energy.
  • Use natural and alternate therapies to help clear and support your body.
  • Meditate.
  • Pray, and talk with God.
  • Explore vibrational therapies such as bush or bach flower essences, crystals, music, colour and aromatherapy (Want to know about my favourite essential oils for spiritual support and how to get them? Email me at channelnc@gmail.com)
  • Trust, look for support and know that things do get easier over time.

Most of us have too much on our plates, overflowing to-do lists and simply not enough time in the day to get to everything we need to do.

Sometimes we need to take a deep breath and slow down for a moment.

You know what I’m talking about…

Disappointments. Things that don’t go to plan. Endings we weren’t expecting. Futures that don’t conform to what we’d been led to believe. Judgments against us. Misunderstandings. Our body misbehaving or breaking. Hopes and dreams that end up in tatters at our feet. Grand ideas that tank. Injustices. Broken promises. Wrongs.

Sometimes life just knocks the wind out of our sails.

Or that’s how it feels…

One thing I’ve learned about life’s hard knocks is that although we may get winded, if we can just take a good deep breath, then pause and take another, we often find things aren’t as bad as they first appeared.

Sometimes, of course, it really is that bad. No matter. Breathing helps. Taking a good deep breath centers you; it calms you down, puts you back in your body, and helps clear your head. Then you can better see your way forward.

We are, all of us, stronger than we know. And it’s usually not until we’re really tested by life that we ever find this out.

Guided Meditation and Activities to connect you to your Heart Wisdom

Our heart, and Heart Chakra, is both a receiver and a transmitter for love and wisdom. The more we open our heart by giving, the more we can connect into receiving. This positive flow of loving energy allows us to live from our hearts as intuitive, connected and compassionate human beings.

Activity:

Our hearts love to love. Here are some suggestions for expressing that energy in the world this week:

  • Play with your pets, or go feed ducks in the local park. Animals are wonderfully intuitive, loving and giving.

  • Make a connection that expands your own heart. Read to a child, or even to an adult.

  • Catch up with friends for a coffee, a meal or a movie.

  • Play tennis with a friend, or go to a yoga class together. Do anything athletic that involves someone else, some encouragement, some sharing and some laughing.

  • Visit or call an elderly relative or a family member who’ll be glad to see you!

  • Spend an hour giving random but sincere compliments to strangers. Tell the waitress you like her earrings or the supermarket attendant that you’re grateful for the skilful way he packs your bag so your bread doesn’t get squashed. Smile.

  • Leave a kind and supportive message on a pillow, tucked into a pocket, or posted on a blog.

  • Volunteer, and care for others in some way. Humans love to give, and to help, and to be united in the energy of that caring.

  • Plan a party or a special event to bring together people that you love, even if that event doesn’t take happen straight away.

  • Join a retreat, workshop or holiday tour and meet new friends. Be open to connecting with others.

Journalling:

Meet your heart on the page. Take a minute or two to calm yourself, by closing your eyes and breathing deeply. Focus on your heart, and build that energy within you. Visualise the colour green. (If you wish, work with the energy of the meditation below before you begin!) When you are ready start writing, starting with the words,

“The thing my wise heart really needs my conscious mind to know is…”

This six-minute meditation will help you tap into your heart’s own intuition and wise guidance, opening you up to deeper and deeper levels of spiritual connection.

Guided Meditation for Healing Childhood and Emotional Trauma

November is a month for knowing ourselves deeply, for healing old hurts and for prioritising and redesigning our lives so that they better represent the person we are and the person we want to become. It is an excellent month for healing the hurts and low-self-worth issues that stem from the bullying or judgments of others directed at you as a child, or through your adult years until now. This month’s energies also support you to move from a limited or stuck version of yourself, or a small version of yourself, to one that is vibrant with your true colours, and full of kindness and possibility.

I have created this fifteen-minute guided meditation for you to help you to heal and release pain and trauma from childhood, or from any period in your life prior to today.

You might like to choose a favourite crystal to hold as you do this meditation. Find a quiet place where you can sit or lie comfortably without being disturbed. Give yourself some integration time after the meditation is finished, or allow yourself to fall asleep. You may also want to journal after the meditation too. Just do what feels right for you, and know that you can return and listen to this meditation again any time you want.

Getting Ready For November Energies

November is nearly here. Energetically it’s a month for knowing ourselves deeply, for healing old hurts and for prioritising and redesigning our lives so that they better represent the person we are and the person we want to become.

That’s important work at any time, but it becomes all the more significant as we realise that the work we do in November is setting us up for the year ahead. The actions we take, the choices we make, and the healing, planning and dreaming we do clears the way for 2018, allowing us to consciously begin manifesting the kind of year we intend for ourselves.

I like the sound of that. Don’t you?

I have four things that can help you make the most of the November energies.

  1. My Welcome November blog post, which comes out on November 1. It’s free, and it’s packed full of info on the energies of November, including helpful advice on crystals and essential oil choices to support you in the month ahead. Guided Meditation and Tips for Spiritual Grounding

What does it mean to be grounded? If you think of a strong old tree, tap root reaching deep into the earth like an anchor, other roots reaching out under the ground like strange subterranean branches, then you’ll begin to understand what I mean.

With such a deep root system, big storms can blow and the tree will weather the worst of gales, hanging on soundly because of the strength of those roots, and their wide grasp of the world’s foundations.

For a person to be grounded we need to have that same deep connection, that same energetic stability that holds us firm and safe, no matter what is going on around us. We need to earth ourselves.

When we are well grounded we naturally make good decisions for ourselves, and gravitate towards healthy relationships and situations that support our highest good. When we are grounded we are emotionally stable and mentally strong. We come from a place of balance, and we have great endurance even in the most difficult of situations.

Being grounded is essential when life becomes difficult.  It is a vastly under-rated coping mechanism, especially in the face of uncertainty.

How do you know if you’re not well grounded?  You may feel spacey, vague, depleted or drained. You may over-react to the smallest of things, or not bat an eyelid at something monumental. Unable to make decisions or to trust your own judgement. You could have a sense of perpetual panic or overwhelm, or feel totally disconnected from life. You may even feel unsafe, distressed or upset, without a clear reason why.

Here are some simple ways to create that strong sense of anchoring in our lives, so that we live from a place of balance, connection and security:

1. Choose foods that have a grounding effect on the body.  

Foods that have a grounding effect are things that nurture and calm us.

Avoid stimulants such as sugars, caffeine and refined/processed foods. Also avoid cold and raw foods.

Emphasise root vegetables, like potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, ginger, garlic and onions.

Other great foods for grounding include warmed milk and all roasted, baked or stewed vegetables and meats, chick peas, white beans, lentils, figs, olives, coconut, avocados, soups and warming spices like cinnamon, star anise, curry spices, cumin, fennel, coriander, cloves, allspice and nutmeg.

2. Take an Epsom Salts Bath. 

Epsom Salts Baths are a wonderful way to de-stress, unwind, top your body up with magnesium, and cleanse your auric field. Highly recommended when you are around toxic people or situations.

3.  Get back into your Body

No-one can be grounded when they live in their head!  Pull back from the computer or TV. Organise a massage, go for a walk, swim, run, climb, ride, dance, stretch, play, get moving. Physical exercise and activities help burn off stress and re-balance your body chemistry.

4. Spend time in Nature

They call it ‘grounding’ for a reason.  Nature helps defuse the tension within us, and relaxes our minds and bodies.  You don’t even need to be active. Relax on a park bench in the sunshine on a winter’s day, dig in the garden, wander along the shoreline, fly a kite…

If you can, take your shoes off and stand with your bare feet on the earth.  Walk around for a bit if that is possible. This allows you to discharge built up electromagnetic energy, and re-orient your body’s inner compass. If you suffer from feeling ‘spacey’, exhausted, drained or disconnected, bare-footed reconnection to the Earth will do you wonders! You could also sit on the grass, or rest with your back against a tree.

5.  Breathe

That’s right! Sit in silence, be still and just focus on your breath, being aware of your breathe entering and leaving your body.  Breathing in.  Relaxing.  Breathing out.  Relaxing a little more. You can do this to calm yourself down at any time during the day, but giving yourself the gift of five or ten minutes of stillness and mindful breathing is a powerfully grounding and energetically restorative act.

6.  Meditate

Meditation calms the mind, soothes the spirit and relaxes the body. You’ll find plenty of simple guided meditations and meditation techniques here on my blog (just use the search box at the top right hand corner of this page).

I’ve also recorded a simple guided meditation specifically for helping you to ground into the earth. All you have to do is close your eyes, and follow my voice. Chakra Journal Challenge – Week 5 – Heart Chakra

Hello, and welcome to Week Five of our Chakra Journal Challenge!

Every Tuesday in March and April I will post a Journal Challenge for you, based upon a journey through the main chakras. You don’t need to know anything about journalling, chakras, crystals, oracle cards or energy work. I’ll explain everything that you need to do each week. Then you’ll have a week to complete the simple activities I share.

About the Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is located right where our heart is, in the centre of our chests. The colour of the Heart Chakra is green.

The Heart Chakra is an open doorway, the anchor for our soul into our body, and the seat of our emotions. When our heart chakra is open and balanced we are in a space of self-love, self-nurture, generosity, kindness, humour, empathy, non-judgement, happiness, compassion, expansion, optimism and FLOW. We’ll see beauty everywhere!

When the Heart Chakra is out of balance we can experience too much empathy, and hypersensitivity to the moods and emotions of others, where we will process these emotions as our own or feel responsible for them in other people. This is draining emotionally, physically and spiritually.

When the Heart Chakra has low energy flow we can experience loneliness, a sense of not belonging, we’ll shy away from intimacy and commitment, be overtly critical of self and others, be defensive and even paranoid. It is also an energy that creates addiction, including workaholism (see this week’s energy forecast for more on this!) because addictions mask and numb PAIN.

In all instances what the heart chakra needs is LOVE. Treat yourself and others with kindness, and spend time listening to your heart. Your heart holds all the wisdom of your soul, it truly knows what is best for you and what direction best serves you. All you ever need to do is tune in to that wisdom.

 

Weekly Structure

Each week of this nine week challenge will follow the same format:

  1. We will begin with the short guided meditation for the week, using your guidance stone. During this meditation you’ll be given a colour to work with for the week, and a word or phrase.
  2. We will choose an oracle card to give us inspiration and direction for the week ahead.
  3. We will spend ten minutes (or more if desired!) to complete our weekly journal prompt.
  4. We will give ourselves healing energy at least once this week.
  5. We will spend a few moments at the end of our day in gratitude.

Guided Meditation:

You’ll need ten minutes to listen to this short guided meditation. Feel free to hold your crystal while you meditate.

 

 

Journal Prompts

Now answer the following questions, writing as little or as much as you need:

  • What does your Power Colour mean to you? What words or ideas does it provoke? Write them down. Then use that colour to boost your energy. Shut your eyes for thirty seconds and breathe it into your body whenever you feel a bit flat or low. Wear it as clothing. Choose flowers in your colour. Eat food that colour. Be creative with it.
  • How can you use your Power Word this week? Write a few ideas, based on your word. Trust whatever comes and write it down. Don’t overthink it.

Want to go deeper with your journalling? Try these additional prompts. Write the beginning of the sentence and then keep going, using stream of consciousness. Do one or all of them. You’ll be amazed what you might discover about yourself!

  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me strong to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me scared to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me curious to think that…
  • When I connect into the energy of my Heart Chakra it makes me excited to think that…

Your Chakra Card For The Week:

Take your chosen oracle or tarot cards, offer up a small prayer that whatever you do be for your Highest Good, and then shuffle the deck. As you’re shuffling, ask the question ‘What wisdom does my Heart Chakra have for me this week?’ Say it out loud or hold it as a thought in your head. Either will work.

Choose one card. How you choose is up to you. Split the deck. Fan them out. Top or bottom. Dive right in. There is no right or wrong.

Now look at your card and hold your guidance stone in your non-writing hand. Really look at the card. Don’t use the book or the ‘proper’ meaning. We are being intuitive here, people! What stands out for you in the picture? What thoughts and ideas do the images provoke? Take a minute or two and write those thoughts down. I know, you might feel like you’re just making it all up. That’s okay. Write anyway. Trust that there is a part of you that is wise and that has been waiting for this chance to speak with your conscious mind.

Hands On Healing:

This week our hands-on healing is simple, easy and powerful. It’s a great healing to do last thing at night, in bed, just before we go to sleep.

  1. Lie in bed, on your back, comfortable and with a straight spine.
  2. Shake out your hands and activate your hand chakras. (Can’t remember how? Go back and review our Orientation Post)
  3. Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your belly. Let white light flow from your hands into your body.
  4. When your body is filled with light, run green light from one hand to the other, in a  gigantic healing loop. Feel the green light cleansing your heart, your blood, your cells and organs, your energy field.
  5. Let the colour of the energy change as you do this, if any other colours come to you and feel right.
  6. Finish with white or golden light into your body.
  7. Fall asleep, knowing that you will still be healing as you sleep.

You can also do this healing  when you first wake up. Enjoy!

Practicing Gratitude

The Gratitude Rock anchors positive energy and gratitude at the end of every day.  You can carry your stone with you, or leave it beside your bed.  At night, before you go to sleep, hold your Gratitude Rock in your hand.

As you hold the stone say to yourself: I am richly Blessed. I have an Abundance of Good in my life. Then hold in your mind one or more image of a thing you have been grateful for today. Swell that positive energy up in your heart like a beautiful golden light, and give a heart-felt Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to the Universe. Visualise a tiny shower of golden light travelling from your heart into your Gratitude Rock.

Now here’s the fun bit – imagine all of the other people who are taking part in this journalling challenge with you. Once again build up a strong positive energy in your heart, and then imagine shooting a stream of golden light out into the Universe to those people.

Say Thank you. I Bless You. I intend for you Love, Miracles and Abundance.Know that as you are saying this for them, they are also saying this for you. Feel that connection and gratitude and know that there is real love and support for you here. Place your rock back beside your bed, and go to sleep, cocooned in this good energy.

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead. I use any oracle or tarot cards shown as a prompt for channelled messages and my own intuitive wisdom, so my take is sometimes quite different to the meaning found in a book. ‘Enlightenment’ is from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck by Tori Hartman.

If you read my forecast for January, you’ll remember that this is a month for seeing yourself and your life with fresh eyes – a month for stepping out of your old story and writing a new one for the years ahead, one that expands your possibilities and that brings you meaning and joy. I’ll be posting the monthly forecast for February on Wednesday but I’ll give you a quick sneak-peak now. February is all about turning inwards, and tuning in to our own wants and needs, staying true to ourselves and our goals despite our fears or what other people may tell us.

So, what gifts does Enlightenment bring for you this week?

Enlightenment is all about our Solar Plexus chakra – our sense of who we are, our inner authority and confidence, and our dreams of who we might become. This week we begin to see what we can create for ourselves and our lives. We glimpse the person we could evolve into, we see where a new relationship might go, or what our business idea could evolve into. We are able to feel into so many current and future possibilities and directions. Old dreams and projects that never got off the ground will also resurface, begging you to try them one more time.

It’s exciting stuff, and it may also be a little overwhelming.

Know that as these possibilities come to you, so will something else…

Your fears will pay you a visit. All of the self-doubt, not-good-enough, fear of success, fear of failure, fears of every colour and size and temperament will make themselves known in direct proportion to the size of the actions you’ll need to take to get to where you want to go.

Expect those fears. Welcome them in. Listen to them for a moment if you must. Then give them a seat and tell them to stay quiet while you go about your life.

When our Solar Plexus is balanced we feel calm, energised, clear and certain about who we are and where we are going in life. It instills us with confidence, vitality and purpose. We have self-control and sovereignty in our lives.

When our Solar Plexus Chakra is unbalanced and low in energy we feel ‘less than’, our self-esteem and confidence drop, we feel flat and tired, and we may be lost and confused about what is best for us and which direction to take. We make poor choices and don’t seem to care or be able to stop ourselves even though we are aware of our patterns.

When the chakra is too energised we can become stubborn, intolerant, narrow-minded, bossy and overbearing. We become workaholics who are relentlessly driven and who take no joy from life.

 

Guided Meditation To Balance the Solar Plexus Chakra:

I’ve recorded a short guided meditation for you to help balance and work with the energy of your Solar Plexus Chakra. All you need to do is sit or lie comfortably and follow along with the sound of my voice:

 

Supportive crystals this week? Citrine, Orange Calcite, Tiger Eye, Yellow Topaz and Smoky Quartz. Other actions that support the Solar Plexus Chakra include dancing; journal writing, and exercises which stretch and move the hips and belly.

Helpful essential oils?  Young Living’s Believe essential oil blend, or  a combination (or singly!) of any of Rosemary, Bergamot, Cedarwood and Lavender. I have a big soft spot for the Believe oil blend. It’s one of my go-to oils and it’s in my diffuser every time I work on my Planner, on my business, while I’m writing or journalling, or when I am considering making changes in my life. It smells beautiful too – uplifting and so pretty.

The Week Ahead – Oracle Reading for Monday 19 December

Hello, Lovelies!

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen this Monday, and my take on the energetic outlook for the week ahead.

‘Slowing Down’ is from the Osho Zen Tarot deck. What a beautiful card for this week!

Slowing down signifies the need for us to be self-contained with our emotions this week.  It reminds us not to buy into the drama of others, nor to step back into old patterns of being or communicating. This is especially important for those of us who will be seeing family or other community members with whom communications can become tense or difficult. This week come from a place of quiet and calm. Place a thick energetic shell around you, just like the tortoise.

This week we need quiet time. December is a time for reflection, and for sitting in the Supermind. This month we’re encouraged to truly give thought to who we are, where we’ve been, and where we want to go next. Home is important this week. Slowing down is important, so that we can sit in awareness of all that is going on within us and around us.

Saying no to invitations and situations that don’t feel aligned with where you’re at? Go right ahead!

Too tired? Rest instead. Don’t want to go? Stay home!

Don’t make it all about duty and responsibility this week. Make this week about self-nurture and placing value and time with what truly matters to you.

Do all you can to make your home a safe and nurturing space. Let there be somewhere you can use as a sanctuary, and retreat there when the world gets too much. Nestle down with a book, or some music. Have a nap. Journal. Just be. It’s good for the soul, and so restorative on every level.

As we slow down (even just for a few minutes each day) we begin to connect into our own intuitive wisdom, our own heart centre, our inner compass.

Our psychic sensitivity will increase this week, but so will our coping abilities.

This short guided meditation might help with both (and is especially helpful for dealing with stressful social situations):

Nap, rest, chill out, withdraw. All of these are legitimate actions this week. Do what’s right for YOU!

Remember that you carry your home with you wherever you go. Dance to your own tune this week, and avoid being caught up in the craziness and busy-ness of others. A calm Christmas? Why not!

Tune in to the love and blessings that are all around you.

Celebrate what matters.

Give thanks.

Keep taking small steps in directions that are important to you.
