Catching My Breath

“Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again.”
~ Thích Nhất Hạnh, The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation

The past few days have been a bumpier ride than I had expected. I’m off my Lyme drugs while I get all my various tests done, and I’d hoped it would be a picnic.

I was wrong.

Some of the symptoms I thought I’d done with came back with a vengeance. The severe pain I endured last week abated, only to be replaced with a different kind of pain.

Meditation. That’s what’s gotten me through. Again. Thank goodness for my daily practice, for that life-saving place of calm and peace.

I know this will all ease eventually, if I just stick with the treatment protocol. In fact, I already feel better than I did a few days ago.

Problem is, I don’t ever get a proper break from Lyme. I can’t take the weekend off from being in my body. This is the poor broken body I’ve been living in for years. I love it, and I’m grateful for it, but sometimes it all gets too much and I wish I could run away and be someone else for a few days, or me, but in another better-working body.

That’s the truth of it.

But we all feel like that sometimes, don’t we?

One thing I know for sure – meditation helps.

Here are a few guided meditations I recorded earlier. Perhaps you might find them helpful for you right now. Follow the post links to access the recordings:

  1. ♥ Guided Meditation for healing Inflammation and Dis-ease
  2. Bee Breath Meditation for reducing stress and opening and healing the Throat Chakra
  3. Tibetan Singing Bowl Healing Meditation
  4. Guided Meditation for Emotional Support

Know that you’re in my thoughts, prayers and daily meditations,

I’m wishing you peace in your heart today.

♥ Nicole xx

And if you want to know more about Lyme, this terrific documentary, Under Our Skin, is a great place to start. It’s movie length, but well worth it. That’s my life, people. That’s my life…

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.

  1. I finally found the time to watch this NC and see what you are going through. So much of what I saw in this doco is what you’ve briefly mentioned but the extent of the suffering is something that is so hard to imagine without watching something like this. I can’t believe that we don’t hear more about this. Its just mind blowing to see the damage that a tick can do. What people are going through to be believed not to mention the fight they have on their hands to receive treatment is inhumane. I’ve always held you in high regard but to understand a little more of what you are going through has really made me sick for you and the years that you’ve been trying to get a diagnosis. It’s also made me realise the STRENGTH that lies within you. And THAT is one of the things that defines you in my mind xoxo

  2. I am sorry that you are struggling. Each day is a new day filled with promise. I know you know this and yes we all feel like we would rather not endure the challenges that we must in order to succeed each day. After all we are only light beings having a human experience :). Sometimes the humanness of life IS overwhelming.

  3. i can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through Nicole .. and i hold you in my heart prayers each day that you will recover soon .. that a way is found now for you clear this dis-ease from your body .. i admire your tenacity and the truthful way you share your experiences .. leading by example … i guess you would have tried them out already but as i’m not sure of all that you’ve used to clear the lyme’s disease from your body .. essential oils are reported to have great results .. and lots of loving healing energies sent your way from us all .. blessings Lynn
