It’s World Kindness Day!

“Be the reason someone smiles. Be the reason someone feels loved and believes in the goodness in people.”
~ Roy T. Bennett

Hello, Lovelies!

It’s World Kindness Day, and kindness is something that I encourage my community to practice and embrace. Today, more than ever, kindness is a tool that Lightworkers can use to change the world.

Our modern world has not encouraged kindness. People are more insular, intolerant, self-absorbed, disconnected and narcissistic than ever. But kindness can change that!

Scientists have proven that kindness is contagious. People witnessing acts of loving kindness are more motivated to practice kindness themselves.

You can be kind to anyone, irregardless of the other person’s views, religion or political affiliation. Kindness opens up spaces for honest connection and it diffuses tension. The more we feel connected to others, the less inclined we are to be aggressive, to devalue others, or to be cruel.

So what is kindness? Daniel Fessler, the head of the UCLA Bedari Kindness Institute, explains kindness as the “thoughts, feelings and beliefs associated with actions intending to benefit others, where benefiting others is an end in itself, not a means to an end”.

Kindness has been proven to benefit both the giver and receiver. It lowers blood pressure, reduces anxiety, alleviates depression and boosts the immune system.

A simple smile, a greeting, asking someone how they are and taking a moment to listen to their response, including someone who is on the sidelines, not reacting when other people are rude but instead being kind to them, practicing acts of thoughtfulness or small acts of generosity – all of these things can change a person’s mood, their headspace, their day or even their life.

And remember – kindness also extends to you. So be kind to yourself today, and always, too!

Much love, Nicole xx

Hi! I'm Nicole Cody. I am a writer, psychic, metaphysical teacher and organic farmer. I love to read, cook, walk on the beach, dance in the rain and grow things. Sometimes, to entertain my cows, I dance in my gumboots. Gumboot dancing is very under-rated.
