10 Ways To Be Kind to Yourself

Mostly when we think of kindness, we think of how we can act towards others. But today I want to focus on another equally important type of kindness – that which we extend to ourselves.

Too often we forget ourselves in the hurry and bustle of the year, and many sensitive souls get so busy looking after others that they forget to look after themselves at all.

Why not let 2018 be your year of aware self-care?

Here are ten simple acts of kindness you can give as gifts to yourself:

1.  Eat well – a simple, nourishing home-cooked meal eaten slowly and with appreciation – to replenish your body and comfort your soul. If there’s no time for cooking, have some healthy take-out options already thought through so that you don’t succumb to junk. (Pictured below is my Easy Kale and Orange Salad with Miso Dressing)

2.  Say no when you’re too tired.  No-one can run on adrenalin forever.  Honour your feelings and your own needs. Listen to your heart. Let yourself rest.  Replenish those batteries.  * Good advice here:  Are you too nice? 

3. Indulge in some self-maintenance.  Get your hair cut, have a massage, update your wardrobe or make that appointment with the doctor or dentist. For more info try 8 Ingredients for Better Health

4. Move your body! We were designed to move, and exercise is good for the body, mind and spirit. Choose an activity or sport that you enjoy, or simply go for a walk.

5.  Read a book.  Self-help, romance, educational, escapism, fantasy or non-fiction.  Reading is a wonderful way to take some time for yourself, to relax or to give yourself a mental stretching session.

6.  Make time for the things that you enjoy.  Indulge your hobbies, and connect with like-minded people who share your interests.

7.  Spend some real time with people (and creatures) you love!  Friends, family, pets – everyone who loves us and who makes us feel good about ourselves.  Social isolation is an insidious thing – facebook and texting can’t make up for that special energy of meeting up face to face for love, hugs, and laughs.

8.  Spend a little time dreaming…  Dreams aren’t just for kids.  Everybody needs a dream.  Try this great journalling activity: Writing Yourself into a Brighter Future

9.  Hang out in nature.  Spend the day or a week! Feel the sun at your back, the wind in your hair, the rain on your skin. Let nature fill you up and get you grounded again. Read more here: The Healing Power of Nature

10.  Ask for help.  Sometimes we just can’t do it on our own.  And sometimes we just don’t know what to do or where to start. On the days when we’re wrung out and hanging on by our fingernails, there will be someone out there who cares and is in a place where they can extend that guidance and support to you.  Asking for help is one of the greatest acts of kindness we can give ourselves. You are worthy, beautiful, and you deserve love and kindness. Most of all, you need it from yourself.  The way we treat ourselves sets the tone in the wider Universe for how we expect to be treated. And our expectations have a way of manifesting…  Choose kindness!

What To Do After Meditation

Do you meditate?

It’s one of the things we are practicing on retreat right now. Even a few minutes a day, done regularly, can change your life – bringing calm and increasing your ability to cope with life’s daily stresses.

But what about after meditation?

I’ve been teaching my students that those first few minutes after meditation are the perfect time for you to spend in visualisation. Simply hold a vision in your mind of the life you want to create for yourself – in any area of your life. Make it as real and immediate as you can, as though you already have that change in your life. Allow yourself to feel good about that change. And then bring yourself back into your body and go about your day.

That simple additional step of visualising after meditation, while you are still in connection with Universal Energy and calm and open to receiving will make a powerful difference to the way that you manifest in the world.

Try it. I promise you’ll be pleased that you did.

A Grateful Heart Is A Magnet For Miracles – Monday Oracle 9 October 2017

Hello, Lovelies!

If you read my forecast for October, you’ll know that it’s a month of energies of love, friendship, community and togetherness. It’s also a month for getting creative and for self-acceptance.

Keep that in mind as we look at the gifts which the oracle card Abundance brings us.

So, what awareness does Abundance bring us this week?

We’re reminded that in order for things to stay within our circle we must treat them well, and with respect. When we care for what we have it strengthens its connection to us. If we treat it badly or with disregard, the connection weakens or falls away.

This week Abundance encourages us to put energy into the things that matter to us. That might be our marriage, our children, our friendships. It could be our money, business or art. By paying attention, by expressing gratitude, by taking care and giving time we nourish these connections, and grow these things that we care about. The Law of Attraction would explain this as ‘Whatever you put your attention to, multiplies in your life.’ As we pay attention we also find deeper connection and a stronger flow of energy and inspiration. (Conversely, it is also important not to keep telling yourself the old stories of hardship and hard-done-by. Or guess what will keep showing up?)

This week’s Abundance energies also apply to our relationship with ourselves. We’re called to nourish and take care of ourselves this week, and to give ourselves the time and attention we need. Look for areas where you are stressed and out of balance, and start there. Clean the mess, create some breathing space, attend to the things that are worrying you. We can never be completely in flow if we are held back by the energy of things left neglected and undone. These old energies act like drains that siphon off our enthusiasm and life force. As soon as we make a start with dealing with problems areas it creates a shift, and then opportunity and ideas can begin to show up again in our lives.

Above all, find time for gratitude and for appreciation this week. What do you want to have multiplied in your life? Direct your thoughts and visualisations toward those things. Create a beautiful corner, a lovely meal, or style an outfit that uplifts you. Think about the existing blessings in your life and feel that appreciation ripple out from you, knowing that it will now attract more of that same energy back into your life. Become a magnet to new possibilities and then open to allowing these energies in your life. We don’t always need to know how to create a situation in our lives – all we need to do is be open to it, trust that it can be possible and then keep working on the things we can do. In that space of action and allowing, miracles can happen.

Supportive crystals this week?

Orange Calcite connects you in to inspiration and is a wonderful beginner stone for tuning in to the spiritual realms. Expect accelerated connection with your Guides! If I could choose only one stone this week it would be Orange Calcite. Red Jasper is a stone for mental, physical and emotional rejuvenation. Deeply grounding, it helps you connect to your heart and your truth. Fluorite helps us to be honest, objective and innovative with our creativity. Pearls nurture us, helping us to heal the pain of breaking up and moving on from an idea, situation or relationship. Each of these stones can be worn, held, placed into a work space or popped into your pocket.


Helpful essential oils?

I’m loving Young Living’s Clarity and Believe blends for October. Use Clarity for focus, inspiration and breakthroughs. Dab a drop on your Crown Chakra and the soles of your feet, inhale directly or add to your diffuser. Use Believe when you are doubting yourself and want to find your confidence and self-belief. It’s great to inhale directly, diffuse or add a drop to Heart Chakra and inner wrists. A few drops added to your bath make for magical self-care.

Want to make your own blend? Each of the following oils will work beautifully on their own for you this month, but they also make a delicious combination for diffusing. Frankincense elevates our mood and promotes spiritual connection and intuition, Lavender keeps us in flow and relaxed,  Ylang Ylang opens our hearts and is supportive when we feel anxious or overwhelmed, and Bergamot for joy, gratitude and optimism. To diffuse add 2 or three drops of each oil to your room or personal diffuser. Welcome to the second week of these awesome November energies.

Here’s the oracle card I have chosen, and my take on the energetic outlook for the days ahead.

‘Existence’ is from the Osho Zen Tarot deck – and it heralds another fabulous week.

The week ahead is infused with supportive energies. There are all kinds of positive things coming our way, but we are also reminded to stay grounded in reality; honouring what is true and practical and real for us, even as we keep one eye firmly focused on our longer-term goals and our bigger dreams. We are reminded to keep showing up, to keep doing the work, and then in the doing magic will happen.

In the days ahead you’ll discover new perspectives. Inspiration will come in many forms, with lots of brand new ideas and a fresh take on old ideas and projects.

Expect to be delighted by new ways of thinking. Expect helpful people. Know that this week brings the kind of divine guidance that gifts us clarity, and the kind of synchronicity which delivers us blessings and miracles.

You’ll need to make sure that you write down or otherwise record these sudden ideas and flashes of inspiration because when they don’t come from you it is unlikely that you will remember them accurately if you don’t capture that wisdom straight away!

It’s also a super week for realising how you can collaborate with others in ways that encourage mutual and exponential success. Make those initial connections. Have those first discussions. This week sets the scene for so much of what will unfold in the coming year.

Remember to have adequate sleep, downtime and solitude this week too. It’s often in these quiet spaces that inspiration and guidance come to us.

Totally shattered with exhaustion as you start your week? Stop pushing on and rest first. Being well rested will invite flow and answers back into your life, lifting you from stuck back into momentum and clarity.

Does Planning Your Future Press All The Wrong Buttons In You?

2016 is right on our doorstep.

For many people it’s a time of review. For some it’s a time of making New Year’s resolutions. And some of us are working with my Year of ME Planner – 2016.

Reviewing and planning your life – it sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

Except when it’s not.

I have always maintained that self work is some of the hardest work you can do. It’s easy to go through life busy – getting up every day tired, going to work or school, coming home to eat and watch a screen and then fall into bed. Repeat x 365. With the exception of holidays and Christmas. Busy numbs you. Routine numbs you. You don’t even have to think. Life becomes a series of multiple choice questions with the answers all there in front of you. Or we can let life drive us and carry us along.

Self-work wakes you up. Self work makes you examine your life. Who are you? What do you want? In what direction do you want your life to go?

When we begin to ask ourselves those questions it can be hard to truly see and own the choices (or lack of choices) we have made thus far.

It can be incredibly confronting to stand at the centre of our life and realise that we no longer know what makes us happy. Or worse, that we have become so disconnected from ourselves and from Spirit that we feel like we have only emptiness when we ask ourselves the big questions.

And there’s one other elephant that often creeps into the room when we do start to give ourselves permission to plan and dream and consciously create our lives.

That would be the elephant of Unworthiness.

That feeling where all our fear kicks in. All our self-doubt. The voice in our head, which is effectively silenced by hard work, routine, illness or fatigue, starts whispering and then shouting…

Not good enough

Too fat

No money

Too sick

Too old

Too stupid

Too late

I’ll fail

I don’t deserve it

It’s impossible

and all manner of other unhelpful things. All the old fears rush in. Plus a few new ones. Often that voice gets so loud that all we want to do is put down our Planner (Did I mention that I have an awesome Planner to really help you live consciously in 2016? 🙂 ) and go back to the numbness of the life we lived before.

You’ll know if that’s you.

You’ll move into a place of resistance. Of procrastination. Of crankiness even.


That’s always a positive sign that those buttons are being pushed in you because you are moving out of stuckness (where it’s safe) and back into the flow of life again.

I’d urge you to keep going with planning and dreaming and manifesting through your intention.

I know some of you will now counter that with, ‘But Nicole, you don’t understand! I’m sick. I have no money. No-one is helping me. My life sucks. How can I plan a better life when I am not even coping with my day? That’s so unrealistic – to dream of an ideal life, or even a better life, when were I am currently sucks so much.’

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Remind yourself that self work is the hardest work you can do. Encourage yourself. Be gentle with yourself. Treat yourself kindly, like you would a small cranky, frightened child.

Know that sometimes this work needs time to flow. Stick with it. Work in small bites. You can always write a little bit down and then come back to your dreams and your life plan and add more later. Let it be an adventure in knowing yourself, rather than an awful chore that needs to be perfect or ‘done right’.

And most importantly?


Imagination is a powerful force, and just like when you were a child, you can go into your imagination and create without limitation. Thoughts become things. Change is always possible.

Back in 2000, shortly after I was married, I became so sick from undiagnosed lyme that my husband was advised to put me into a nursing home. I had lesions on my brain. My cognitive ability was shot. I couldn’t walk, think clearly, or function in daily life. It was predicted that within six months I would be a drooling mess, and that within a few short years I would be dead.

But I still had my imagination, and my ability to dream.

I’m sure that’s what got me through.

And every single thing (bar one – having kids), on my list of dreams and seemingly impossible goals from that time in my life has now come true, even though at the time I was sick, had no money, life truly sucked, and I didn’t know HOW it would ever change.

Life is a great big adventure, and we never truly know how it will unfold for us. But thinking and dreaming is still free, and there is powerful magic in those two acts. Don’t give up on yourself!

2016 is almost here. It’s a whole book of blank pages for us to fill. Don’t let that be terrifying. Your imagination is a giant crayon box jam-packed with colour and possibility, longing to be let loose on those blank pages.

Dare to truly think. Dare to give yourself permission to imagine. Dare to dream.

How Listening To Music Can Increase Your Abundance

On my last retreat I channelled through some information for the group about money and financial abundance. We were given a number of practical tips to help us to look after the money that we already had, and to get us into flow with creating more financial security for the years to come.

One of the most easily applicable tips related to music. Listen to music that makes you feel good, music that you love, we were told. This can be the most powerful tip of all.

The best music is the music of our own youth – our teens and early twenties. The music we listened to, and the music that we made ourselves. This is music we can sing along to. It’s music that makes us want to dance or laugh or cry, or run up a mountain or change the world. For a few of us, the music from our earlier childhood – that was the power music of our parents’ youth, or our grandparents’ – can be just as powerful because of the positive associations it brings for us.

Playing this music places us into an energy of comfort, hope and possibility. It brightens our energy and heightens our emotions. As we sit in that space of being happy and emotionally connected, we move into the energy of flow. We sit in our power. Ideas and inspiration come. We become aligned to our highest good. And from that place of flow all kinds of magic can happen. In order to manifest we need to be in flow. In order to be in flow we need to feel good. Therefore, music! I love the simplicity of this, and I resonate with the truth of it.

Music is something available to us all. For me, my power tunes are all eighties music. This was such great news to me. I love eighties music!

Here’s a simple affirmation technique that can truly align you with abundance, and magnetise you to the things you desire to make manifest in your life.

Are you ready?

Say… YES. Yes to that thing you want.

Say it out loud. Say it with gusto. Say it with conviction. Say it often. Let it build up the positive energy and momentum in your life.

If it feels right, say a string of yeses, listing things you wish to experience more of in your life. Align yourself to your heart’s calling.

YES to love.

YES to health.

YES to a great new job.

YES to the debt paid off.

YES to the business success.

YES to passing that exam with flying colours.

YES! Yes to whatever lights you up. Yes to the outcome you desire. Yes to your greatest dreams and your smallest wishes. Yes, even if it scares you a bit. Yes, even if you don’t know how you’re going to make it happen.

The energy post-2012 is one of quickening. Thoughts can become things so much more easily. When we say yes we are welcoming that thing, we are inviting that thing, we are aligning with that thing.

Resistance melts away. The gap between our disbelief and our desire diminishes with every heartfelt yes. We become comfortable with this new possibility. We step closer to it. It draws closer to us. And then it appears in our lives.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Yes to what we want.
