In Order to Really Hear You Need To Stop Talking

“For now she need not think of anybody. She could be herself, by herself. And that was what now she often felt the need of – to think; well not even to think. To be silent; to be alone. All the being and the doing, expansive, glittering, vocal, evaporated; and one shrunk, with a sense of solemnity, to being oneself, a wedge-shaped core of darkness, something invisible to others… and this self having shed its attachments was free for the strangest adventures.”
~ Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse

I’m leading a retreat right now, focussed on helping people to connect to their intuition.

Intuition is something all of us have. But often we come to a place in our lives where we can no longer hear that wisdom. Our inner voice becomes drowned out by the relentless chatter of an over-busy mind.

What helps to restore that flow is silence. When we cut out the television, the internet, the text messages. When we cut out the conversation and the need to be present for others, when we strip away the external distractions, then..

…then we can begin to be present for ourselves. We can become witness to our own truth. We can learn to hear and trust our inner voice.

Today on Retreat we are going to enter that quiet space. And in that space, I know that we shall find ourselves.

I expect it to be a day of high emotion. Reunions are like that. To be home with ourselves again will be at once strange and oh so beautiful. But a little scary too, after having been apart for so long.

How about you? Can you find some quiet time to reconnect? I promise you it’s good for your soul.

Much love to you, Nicole <3 xx

We’re on Retreat!

2015-04-18 15.30.56

“In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion.”
~ Albert Camus

Hello Lovelies!

We’re on Retreat at Sangsurya in Byron Bay for the next six days, as I teach a group of delightful souls how to reconnect with their intuition, and to use that intuition as a guiding force in their lives.

Ben has the ute nearly packed (for our second trip!) with singing bowls, journals, crystals and all manner of other delicious metaphysical tools.

Now for a cup of tea, and to remember to change out of my pyjamas before we go!

The astrological line-up right now makes this a powerful time for connecting to and working with your own intuition, so make some quiet time in the next few days, tune in, and then trust! It’s a great time for insights, breakthroughs and revelations.

I’ll be posting each day as normal, because I have lots to share about these current energies. And don’t feel too sad that you couldn’t be with us. My wonderful team are filming the whole show, and we’ll be turning it into a self-paced online study course for you next year.

In fact I have a few new courses coming up – online, home study, some awesome long retreats and some short mini-courses and events in Brisbane (including one for kids and big kids who love fairies!) – as well as our usual Soul Sanctuary retreat at Byron Bay at the end of this year. I’ll make sure to post something about them all in the next few days.

Okay, I must get on with it or I’ll never leave the farm and there will be no-one to run the Retreat.

Much love, Nicole xx

Just a Couple of Places Left for our Intuition Retreat in September!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”
~ Marianne Williamson

Are you hiding your Light?

Have you forgotten this energy within you? Or maybe you’ve got no idea how to connect to it anymore?

Do you have a dream, but you can’t find a way forward with it?

Have you got no dream at all?

When did you stop trusting yourself?

Intuition is something I use every day. To be honest, I’d struggle without it. It informs almost everything that I do. But I also find it is one of the least understood and utilised energies in the lives of most people.

If we ignore our intuition we disempower ourselves. I’ve seen too many people walk away from what would serve them and bring them flow and joy because they couldn’t hear the whisperings of their heart, or they didn’t trust that guiding voice within them.

When we are tuned into our intuition we quickly know which relationships are working for us, and which ones won’t. We become confident about our career choices, our health choices, and what is most needed for our highest good from moment to moment.

Destructive patterns and self-sabotage fall away. Self-love becomes easy and joyful. We become tuned in to a life path that really works for us. Teachers appear. Answers come. Healing happens. Right relationships and divine synchronicities fall into place for us. We find the strength to pick ourselves up and work through obstacles until we come out the other side. We are kept safe. We thrive. We learn to shine.

But how do you tune in when all your life you’ve been taught to ignore this guiding force?

I’ve developed a residential retreat to deeply immerse you in the energy of intuition, so that you can learn how to access this energy for yourself, and to trust this flow of guidance and natural psychic connection within your life. Even better, the astrological energies during and after the retreat will positively enhance your ability to connect with intuition and to cement that connection for the years to come.

This is the most comprehensive course on Intuitive Practice that I have ever created. The retreat is deliberately timed to coincide with a powerful New Moon and a partial solar eclipse. The retreat will run from September 10 to 15, 2015, in Byron Bay, Australia.

During this time the New Moon is in Virgo – the Maiden’s Moon, as this phase is known, is perfect for solitary pursuits, alone time, personal growth and intuitive connection. Still, it gets better. Shortly after the retreat ends we will also have the Spring Equinox on September 23rd, a Supermoon and a total lunar eclipse on September 28, and then a visit from the Comet Catalina on October 1. Imagine how strongly you will be able to connect, transform and grow with all of these forces guiding and strengthening you and your intuitive ability!

I won’t be running this retreat again any time soon. It’s designed as a one-of, to make the most of this extraordinary convergence of energies. So if you want to join us this is your one chance, and there are only a couple of places left. It will be a space of nurture, an opportunity to meet like-minded people, a time for you to gain valuable clarity about your life and your next steps from here.

We hope to see you there, and support you through this next part of your journey! Much love, Nicole <3 xx

Are You Ready to Learn To Use Your Intuition?

“Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have empirically learned through the years. It means to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience. There is a balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart. When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favored.”
~ Brian L. Weiss

I had two residential retreats planned for 2015. My Beginners Channelling Intensive (long booked out – sorry, but you can put your name down for the next one in 2017!) is just three weeks away, and my end of year Soul Sanctuary Retreat (still some places available) will be run from 28 November to 4 December.

I hadn’t planned to run a third retreat. But recently I was offered an extra place in the calendar at Sangsurya this year. (I waited a long four years just to be able to get onto the short list for this venue, and if you’ve ever been to a retreat there before you’ll know what an incredible and transformative energy that venue holds.) I knew that if Tony was making additional retreat space available and offering it to me first above his other trainers and teachers, it was for a very good reason.

I briefly toyed with the idea of a second Beginners Channelling group, but then I looked at the dates, the moon phases and the various other energetic influences available for those dates and I did what I always do in these circumstances – I tuned into my intuition…

Result?

I have put together an incredible course on learning to use and trust your own intuitive abilities! As much as I use my Guides and other psychic tools, intuition is the one thing I tune into and use every single day. When I’m open to my intuition my life flows, and miracles happen.

A Little Taste of Our Sanctuary

2014-12-04 09.25.42

“Each positive thought is your refuge and your sanctuary, where in that thoughtful moment, you are safe.”
~ Bryant McGill, Simple Reminders: Inspiration for Living Your Best Life

It’s our final day of the 2014 Soul Sanctuary Retreat, and I thought I’d share just a tiny part of what we’ve been doing.

We’ve come together and we’ve made magic, we’ve meditated and we’ve shared stories that help with our healing and becoming.

2014-11-29 15.53.50

We’ve made a collective mandala, that holds all of our energies, personalities, love and positive intentions.

2014-12-04 06.19.02

And we’ve turned that mandala into individual talismans with crystals and colours that support us, and our power chakras. Yep, that’s right. We made gorgeous jewels!

2014-12-05 05.44.19

We created Vision Boards to uplift us in the coming months, and to remind us of what is important in our lives, and the future we wish to actively manifest for ourselves.

2014-12-05 05.48.15

We’ve made a personal Sacred Mandala that holds our poetry and philosophy for 2015 – they are symbolic of all that is dear to us and all that we are becoming.

2014-12-05 05.47.09

We’ve wandered through the gardens, having time in nature, and connecting with the earth. And we’ve feasted on a smorgasbord of delicious fresh food, all local and organic and cooked by our own personal chefs – Deb and Claire. (We love you!!!)

2014-12-04 09.25.06

We’ve talked with fairies and Guides, learned how to do readings for each another, and found ways to deeply tap into our own intuition and inner knowing.

2014-12-03 13.33.19

We’ve played with essential oils, learned new ways to ground, connect, release and nurture ourselves. We’ve had healings and been given oils and essences just for us. We’ve enjoyed massive nurture, friendship, laughter, a few tears, and loads of hugs.

2014-12-03 10.04.58

In short, it’s been a fabulous time.

I can’t wait for Soul Sanctuary 2015 so we can do it all again!

Saving Marlo

“I believe in integrity. Dogs have it. Humans are sometimes lacking it.”
~ Cesar Millan

Note – All names have been changed to protect the privacy of those involved

Last Friday, after a terrible night’s sleep, I spent most of the day napping. I was in a good space, but a worrisome niggle kept bothering me. Not even a worry about a person. A worry about a dog. A dog I’ve never met. A dog called Marlo.

Marlo belongs to one of my clients. He’s a big dog – a Saint Bernard cross – a failed rescue dog who has become the cherished friend and companion of a woman I’ll call Sarah. Each time Sarah has come to see me for a reading over the past few years she has brought pictures of Marlo, and asked about his well-being. He’s one of the most important relationships in her life. Before Marlo, Sarah had suffered from depression and severe social anxiety. This special dog has helped Sarah to get back out into the world again, to make new friends, and to better manage her mental health.

So, as I was napping on Friday, I began to worry about Marlo.

After a few hours of worrying, I ended up digging out Sarah’s details and giving her a call. I felt a bit dumb to do so. ‘Hi Sarah, It’s Nicole Cody here. How’s your dog? I was just thinking about Marlo so I thought I’d call up and say hi.’

Marlo, she assured me was just fine. So was she. Sarah had received a big promotion at work and was currently interstate, doing some training  for her new job. This was a huge step forward for Sarah, and proof of how far she’d come since adopting Marlo. Anyway, Sarah had just skyped home that morning and spoken to both Marlo and the person looking after him. Thinks were all okay. Sarah was grateful for my call, but a little bemused. Me? I was a little embarrassed…

All weekend I still had a sick feeling in my stomach about Marlo though, so on Monday morning I fought my discomfort and rang Sarah one more time.

‘Are you sure?’ I said. ‘Is Marlo okay? I’m still worried about him. Something’s not right and I’m so sorry to ring you, but I can’t get it out of my head.’

Sarah was still interstate, but she called home. There was no response. After several hours passed and Sarah was still unable to raise the person house-sitting and pet-minding for her she rang a neighbour who went round to check on Marlo. The neighbour ended up breaking a window in the laundry, when he saw Marlo collapsed on the tiles.

The poor dog had been locked in the house since Friday. There was a bowl of food left out, but Marlo had knocked over the big bucket of water and had been inside for four very hot days, most of that time with nothing to drink.

The neighbour took Marlo straight to the vet, where they are treating him for severe dehydration. He’d also badly injured his paws trying to dig his way through the laundry door. Luckily, he’s expected to make a full recovery.

The person who’d been minding Marlo? She met up with a guy and that was that. She packed up and left that poor dog alone, locked in a house, without letting Sarah or anyone else know.

I’m so glad I called to check on Marlo and insisted that Sarah follow it up. Sarah’s going to bring Marlo round to visit me when he’s all better so I can give him a proper hug.

Meanwhile, Sarah’s boss is a pet owner who completely understands. He let her come home from training straight away, so that she could be with Marlo while he recovers.

If you’re a dog lover like me, please send Marlo a little extra love and healing energy. I’m sure he’d appreciate it. Thank you!

Becoming Who You Always Were

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Right now, here on retreat, my goal isn’t just to teach my participants new things. Instead, my goal is to help them uncover and live more fully as they already are.

It’s the same for everyone. Inside you, there is already someone magnificent. There is already a whole and comprehensive soul, with gifts to share, and wisdom to express.

You didn’t come to this life broken or incomplete. Sure, we’re all a work in progress, and we evolve and grow in response to the circumstances around us, but fundamentally and energetically we have this core essence that remains constant. Our best life becomes the expression of that essence.

That essence makes itself known to us through our preferences. From an early age we enjoy certain things more than others. We excel at, or stay focused on, particular things. It expresses itself through our personality, and it speaks to us via our intuition.

Intuition is lightning fast. The thought comes to us. The idea arrives fully formed in our minds. We instinctively want one thing, but not another. We feel good about that thing. Something about it calls to us. The knowing or the answer sits inside us. We feel it. It fills our cells with certainty.

But we live in a culture that values reason. That prizes the intellect.

From the earliest age we are taught to doubt that knowing.

Mumma, I want this beading kit.

Why do you want that one, honey?

I don’t know. I just do. (There are no words. Just desire. Inside, the creative energy of the child is fired up. She can see herself making patterns and designs. The colours are so pretty. It’s calling her.)

That’s not a good reason. This toy’s a bit young for you. See, it says here on the box Ages 3 and up. You’re six now. A big girl. Which one do you really want? Don’t you like the doll in the yellow dress better?

After repeated episodes of others influencing our decisions, or questioning our choices, we begin to question them ourselves. Instead of trusting this guiding force within us, we begin to run everything past our conscious mind. We think about it. We reason it out. We find facts for and against.

We are no longer in the realm of feeling, and knowing. We are in our heads. We are thinking, and over-thinking. Our confidence in ourselves and our choices is shot. We begin to look to others for validation and approval…

Our essence is always here, inside us. Our intuition is always here to guide us. There is a great power to be had in allowing ourselves room to simply be. Space to sit with ourselves and what is. Time for letting that intuitive wisdom bubble back up to the surface after having been suppressed so long.

How we tune back in to ourselves? Here are a few simple things you can try:

  • Keep a journal. Write regularly, then read back over it and look for themes. Your true interests and passions will shine through.
  • Spend time on your own in nature. Nature soothes, and strips away all the head talk, leaving you alone with your true, wise self.
  • Seek out activities and hobbies that you enjoy. Spend time doing them, and feeling that sense of joy and being absorbed in something meaningful to you.
  • What made you happy as a child? If you’re not sure. ask someone or look at old photographs.
  • What music, interests or hobbies make the hours fly past?
  • What did you always enjoy doing in the past? (That might mean quite a long time ago!)
  • What things came easily to you? Skills, talents, behaviours.
  • What things do you REALLY not enjoy doing or experiencing? (This show you clearly who you aren’t!)
  • Around what areas do you have the most doubts? Where do you seek the most validation or approval, rather than trusting yourself and your abilities? Where do you hold yourself back? (This is a BIG sign that this thing is very important to you, and part of your natural talent.)

I encourage you to start tuning in, and getting a stronger sense of who you already are, and always were. The authentic essence of you is a beautiful and powerful force, waiting to be expressed in your life.
