Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.
— Christopher Germer
Hello, Lovelies!
This Quarter I am using The Shaman’s Dream Oracle by Alberto Villoldo and Colette Baron-Reid with artwork by Jena DellaGrottaglia, for my weekly oracle readings.
Our card to guide us for the week ahead is 27. HEART HOME – COMPASSION
2023 is a year for change, creating solid foundations, and for spiritual journeying. It’s a year for personal growth, and for clarifying who you are, what you want, and why you are here.
December is a month for anchoring love and light, for rest and reflection, for moments of joyful connection, and for planning our projects and dreams for the year ahead.
27. HEART HOME – COMPASSION
Tune in to the gorgeous energy this week – it’s time for compassion for ourselves, for wishes coming true, for kindness for ourselves and, if we have any to spare, kindness and compassion for others. It’s a week where you can put strong boundaries in place around people or situations that are not good for you, and also where you’ll find it in your heart to forgive, even if you can’t forget.
Stay open as a flow of healing energy, love, help, support, universal energy and inspiration comes your way.
If you’ve been holding on by your fingernails, or waiting for clarity and direction, expect hope, help and answers to come to you in unexpected and even delightful ways. Things might not be completely healed or sorted this week, but you will see how to move ahead at last. Expect glimpses of a better future, and something different to your current stuckness, that is more aligned with the new and evolved version of yourself who is moving toward you now.
Where things have been awful, wretched, and seemingly broken beyond repair, Universal Grace reaches out her hand and touches everything with love and light, creating possibility where there had been only misery.
Can’t remember when you last laughed or what makes you happy? This week gifts you a remembering of your soul truth. No matter what is happening in the world, love and laughter and gratitude is necessary to life. We are nothing without that light inside us. You’ll begin to know what that light is once more.
It’s a week where help is at hand, or where you can help and uplift others. It’s also a week to have compassion for yourself, to own your own needs and desires, and to nurture and care for yourself at least as much as you nurture and care for others.
My Top Tip For The Week Ahead:
Find ways to bring simple beauty and kindness into your life or the life of a friend or loved one – a flower from the garden, a candle at the dinner table, a good cup of coffee, a note to show you care, fragrant soap for the shower, a freezer meal, a supportive phone call or text, a smile and a genuine twinkle of love in your eye.
Seek out moments of joy, pleasure and gratitude – on your own and with loved ones. Ground yourself in the moment and don’t let your mind go racing ahead. For no reason at all, you’ll just feel a bit better, sleep a little more soundly, feel a little less flat and restless.

I enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends on the weekend. It was such a joy to sit and share space with people I care about. Even better, everyone brought a plate of food to share and then stayed to help clean up. That kind of easeful, effortless company? They are the friendships I want in my life.
Ben and I have also finally christened our fruitcake. Mmmm… We look forward to that all year. I know, you’re either team Fruitcake or you’re not. As you may have guessed we sit firmly in the Team Fruitcake camp here at the Treehouse. Are you one of those people who only eats certain foods/treats at certain times of the year? Even though so many things are available year round or for very extended periods now we’ve made the conscious decision to only consume holiday foods during the time for which they were intended. For us it helps keep the specialness of the event and all the rituals that attend that. Plus it reminds us of those magical periods of our childhood when we looked forward to those things for months. Part of the enjoyment was the anticipation!
I’m also excited because I have four days off in a row coming up. Yes, I’ve had time off this year, but sick days don’t really count because, well, you’re sick! The luxury of four work-free days is a bliss state I am already counting down. But until then I have orders to pack, clients to see, and Christmas to prep. Cue Christmas Music, water and snacks, and a cool room to work in because it is swelteringly hot here on the Sunshine Coast right now.
It’s becoming harder to find places to stash my Christmas treats and Christmas presents. After so long together, Ben knows all my hiding places. Still, I’ve found a few good new hidey holes, so my darling husband will just need to be patient for another week. I love him dearly, but he is such a sneaky fiend sometimes!!!

Okay, I’m off to sit on my veranda in the early-morning cool with the dogs, sip tea, and plan out my busy week.
Biggest love, hugs and jingle bells, Nicole xx

Yes to only doing certain foods once a year. All my Christmas gifts are made once a year. After 30ish years of doing this, have quite a few who when I ask if they are tired of *insert what they usually get* it’s most usually, no, no, I look forward to them. So, they stay in and I add in new ones on occasion. But once it’s gone, it’s done for another year.
Enjoy your fruitcake (I’ve sourced individual slice options since our household is divisely split down the middle with the for/against).
